Ocarina of Time Remake Gives Official First Look at the Temple of Time

Ocarina of Time Remake Gives Official First Look at the Temple of Time

Nintendo recently gave fans a huge breakdown of everything coming in the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time when it releases on November 5, but the latest glimpse is a first look at the Temple of Time. As fans know, the Temple of Time is one of the most important locations in the game.

Located just outside the Hyrule Castle Town Market, which Nintendo showed off during its recent showcase of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the Temple of Time holds both the Door of Time and the Master Sword. Link’s quest as a child involves him finding all three Spiritual Stones and using the Ocarina of Time to claim the Master Sword, after which he becomes the Hero of Time (or Adult Link). Pulling the Master Sword from the stone is easily one of the most iconic images in the entire Legend of Zelda game franchise, and now fans have gotten their first official look at its art.

Nintendo Makes an Official Update to the Legend of Zelda Timeline

Nintendo quietly revises its Zelda chronology following the Ocarina of Time remake reveal, giving a long-running fan theory new weight.

First Look at the Temple of Time

In a recent social media post, Nintendo gave fans a more direct look at the art of Young Link and Adult Link in Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Many fans have been upset with the style, but it seemingly pulls from Japanese puppetry, which makes it a little more interesting as an art style. Regardless, the background clearly shows new art for the Temple of Time, specifically the room that holds the Door of Time. It would be nice to see more, but there are a few details that stand out.

Over the doorway into the Temple is Zelda: Ocarina of Time‘s Triforce, as well as symbols of the three Spiritual Stones (Kokiri’s Emerald, Goron’s Ruby, and Zora’s Sapphire). Fans can also vaguely see the raised platform where young Link must use the Ocarina of Time and play the Song of Time to open the Door of Time (lots of time there) and the carpet before it, and so it’s a pretty solid, if teasing, look at the beloved location. Some fans hope the Temple of Time actually leads to the inclusion of the Temple of Light, but that is not confirmed at this time.

For those unfamiliar, Adult Link emerges into the Chamber of Sages where he meets the Sage of Light, Rauru, who is the only Sage that does not involve Link traveling to another temple. In fact, the Temple of Light was cut from the Nintendo 64 version of Ocarina of Time due to time constraints and hardware limitations, so it would make sense to include it in this remake. And yet, Ocarina of Time is one of the best-reviewed games of all time, so it’s hard to say how much Nintendo wants to mess with the iconic formula.

Part of that iconic formula is no doubt the Temple of Time and the iconic moment when Link becomes the Hero of Time, when he first pulls the Master Sword in Zelda: Ocarina of Time. At the very least, fans will get to experience that moment once more on modern hardware.
