The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remains one of the most recognizable games in Nintendo’s history, with its version of Hyrule and its take on Link helping define the series for an entire generation, so it’s interesting to see the 2026 remake getting DLC of any kind. After all, “DLC” as a concept was not really around when the classic game first released in 1998. The upcoming remake gives Nintendo a chance to revisit that classic adventure game, with plenty of modern touches, while retaining the characters and story that made the original Nintendo 64 game so memorable.
Young Link and Young Zelda are especially important parts of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, as the game’s story begins with Link as a child and introduces Zelda as a young princess. Their appearances have remained closely associated with the 1998 original, making them natural choices for Nintendo to bring back as part of the remake’s merchandise lineup. In fact, perhaps the biggest, most visceral reaction to the original trailer for the remake was how different these two characters specifically looked, but the good news is that Nintendo hasn’t forgotten their original appearances either.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Features DLC for Young Link and Zelda
Nintendo has revealed new Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, with both figures scheduled to launch sometime in 2027 (pre-orders are going fast!). An exact release window has not yet been specified, but it is believed to be at least a few months after the remake itself launches on November 5, 2026, given its “2027” window. As is often the case with amiibo, they will unlock unique DLC in the related game. Each figure will unlock a special in-game mask (that feels eerily similar to masks in Zelda: Majora’s Mask) based on the original Nintendo 64 characters of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

The Young Link amiibo depicts the younger version of Link sitting alongside Navi, his fairy companion in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Young Zelda, meanwhile, shows the princess holding the Ocarina of Time itself (the same instrument she will eventually give to Link during his adventure). Both figures are specifically based on their younger appearances in the upcoming Switch 2 remake, although it stands to reason that Adult Link will be able to wear these masks as well. Seeing the older N64 graphics in the new take on Ocarina of Time will be interesting, to say the least.
Nintendo’s decision to give The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time two new amiibo isn’t particularly unexpected, especially given how closely amiibo have been tied to the company’s major releases over the years. Still, the figures provide another way for collectors to mark the remake, while their in-game functions as cosmetic DLC is a modern reflection of the times for sure.
More details about The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and its amiibo will likely emerge as Nintendo gets closer to the remake’s November launch. For now, Zelda: Ocarina of Time is scheduled to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026, while these models of Young Link and Young Zelda will follow sometime in 2027.
