Nintendo Switch 2 gamers have an especially busy day ahead of them, thanks to six games that are all set to launch on October 16. The Switch 2 has enjoyed a busy 2026, with high-quality exclusives like Pokemon Pokopia, Splatoon Raiders, and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave all making good arguments for fans to go out and pick up Nintendo’s latest home console/handheld hybrid. The Switch 2’s backward compatibility with Switch 1 has meant that the biggest exclusives released for Nintendo’s older console, like Tomodachi Life and Rhythm Heaven Groove, have also been playable on Nintendo’s newest console.

First-party exclusives are integral to the Switch 2’s success, but the console has also been boosted by its third-party support. Since the Switch 2 is significantly more powerful than its predecessor, companies have been able to bring some of their games that skipped the Switch 1 to the new console. Capcom’s efforts in that arena are a big part of why October 16 is such a busy day for Switch 2, but other third-party releases take things a step further.

List of New Switch 2 Games Releasing on October 16

  • LEGO Harry Potter Collection
  • Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition
  • Resident Evil 3
  • Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition
  • Tales of Eternia Remastered
  • Tenebris Somnia

On Friday, October 16, Switch 2 gamers can look forward to six games all releasing on the same day. LEGO Harry Potter Collection, Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition, Tales of Eternia Remastered, and Tenebris Somnia are all set to launch on Switch 2 at once. While most of these are ports of older games, they include some of the best games ever made, and their native Switch 2 releases definitely make them more appealing than they would be otherwise.

Take the Resident Evil games, for example. Newer Resident Evil games were playable on Switch 1 through Cloud versions only, which was not ideal. Now the games will be fully playable on Switch 2 with no need to deal with the Cloud, which is a big selling point. And since these are the Deluxe and Gold editions of the games, fans will get the most fully-featured versions on Switch 2 right out of the gate. The three Resident Evil games releasing on the Switch 2 all at once would be enough to make October 16 an exciting day for those on the platform, but the other games releasing that day are also noteworthy.

LEGO Harry Potter Collection is a lengthy local co-op adventure that combines the two LEGO Harry Potter games into one convenient package. LEGO Harry Potter Collection previously released for Switch 1 and there is no upgrade path available, but anyone that hasn’t played it or never played it on the Switch may have reason to pick up the Switch 2 release. And then there’s Tales of Eternia Remastered, which brings the classic PlayStation 1 action-RPG to modern platforms with a fresh coat of paint.

Tenebris Somnia is the only brand-new game releasing for Switch 2 on October 16, but it looks incredibly interesting. For the uninitiated, Tenebris Somnia is a new horror game that blends retro-style graphics with live-action cut-scenes. Whether the experiment pays off remains to be seen, but Switch 2 gamers will find out for themselves come October 16.
