Xbox gamers have a lot to look forward to on October 6, thanks to a pair of highly-anticipated brand-new releases, including a console exclusive title. The Xbox brand is in a bit of a rebuilding period, with new CEO Asha Sharma making some dramatic changes in an attempt to rehabilitate Xbox’s reputation in the eyes of gamers. Part of Sharma’s initiatives as CEO has been the return of console exclusive games, with the first new one being the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day.
Gears of War: E-Day serves as a prequel to the original game, bringing back fan favorite characters Marcus and Dom and showing fans what happened at the start of the Locust invasion. E-Day features a 4-player co-op campaign, the franchise’s tried-and-true brand of intense PvP multiplayer, and of course, Horde Mode. E-Day has earned mostly positive reviews so far and is currently available in early access, but its proper release is right around the corner.
Two Big Xbox Games Are Releasing on October 6

Gears of War: E-Day is in early access right now, but its official release date is pegged for Tuesday, October 6. On that day, Xbox gamers will be able to get access to the game without paying extra, and those that have a Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription will be able to play it in its entirety. Gears of War: E-Day is undoubtedly one of the biggest Xbox releases of the year, and it alone would make October 6 a busy day for gamers on the platform. However, Gears of War: E-Day isn’t coming alone. It actually shares its release date with another exciting game that, combined with E-Day, makes October 6 an especially busy day for Xbox.
On the same day that Gears of War: E-Day launches for Xbox Series X/S, Star Wars: Galactic Racer is hitting the platform. The Star Wars franchise has found success in the racing genre before, and it’s looking like Galactic Racer will be another hit. Galactic Racer has a roguelite single-player campaign to go along with its multiplayer mode, and what we’ve seen of it so far has looked very impressive. Coming hot off the heels of the well-reviewed Star Wars: Zero Company, Galactic Racer will hopefully continue the franchise’s momentum in 2026.
Two big game releases in one day will ensure that October 6 is a busy one for Xbox fans, but there are plenty of other packed days coming in the weeks ahead. The fall gaming rush is in full swing, and so there are multiple days in October that are busy, with all kinds of exciting new game releases coming in the near future. Later in the month, Xbox gamers can look forward to games like Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, just to name a couple, with the biggest game of the year dropping in November.
Grand Theft Auto 6 will release on November 19, and is a big part of the reason why there are so many games scheduled for October. While Xbox gamers wait for GTA 6 and the other games coming soon, they should definitely be sure to check out Gears of War: E-Day and Star Wars: Galactic Racer on October 6.
