Official New Fable Event Confirmed for August 26

February 2027 is shaping up to be a big month for video games next year, and developer Playground Games/publisher Xbox’s release of Fable is one of the biggest reasons why. And now fans know when they can expect another look at the upcoming Xbox video game, ahead of its release on February 23.

That said, not all news coming out about Fable has exactly been “good news.” February 2027 is packed with releases, which means more competition, and God of War Laufey‘s release date was recently confirmed to be February 16—a day before Fable‘s early access period. Plus, Fable is reportedly “uncomfortably” over budget, which means heightened expectations. Still, Fable is a resilient and beloved IP, and there’s hope it sticks the landing.

2027 Video Game Release Date Calendar

2027 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years for gaming EVER. Here’s what’s coming!

Right now, it is unconfirmed (although likely) that Fable releases a new trailer or takes center stage during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25 at 11am PT/2pm ET, but it is confirmed to have its own booth at Gamescom. There, guests will be able to check out a live demo theater presentation by Fable developer Playground Games, showcasing gameplay live to the public. This Fable gameplay demonstration will focus on combat, specifically the way melee, ranged, and magical abilities come together in the game.

The good news is this is not just limited to guests attending Gamescom in person, where it is available in Hall 7, booth A-0.6.1., as Xbox will also feature live broadcasts from the booth starting at 7am PT/10am ET on August 26 and August 27. Among some of the Fable presentation, fans will be treated to interview, special guests, gameplay reveals, new trailers, and more, all after the events of Gamescom Opening Night Live. Unfortunately, as of this writing, exact times for Fable during the broadcast have yet to be confirmed.

While attending in person is no doubt the best way to enjoy it, getting to see more of Fable before its February 2027 release date is the main appeal. Plus, while a lot of prior showcases have shown small glimpses of gameplay, it’s been more about the world and immersion of Fable. Getting a good combat deep dive is properly fitting for Gamescom, both in person and for those who are tuning in from around the world. And that’s what’s known right now. It would be genuinely surprising for Fable to show up to the event in Cologne, Germany, with this much to show but not to have anything for Gamescom Opening Night Live.

Of course, stranger things have happened, and it’s uncertain how the marketing budget for Fable is impacted, if at all, by the reported issues with its budget. Everyone knows that Gamescom trailers certainly aren’t cheap, but either way, Fable fans have one shorter countdown to consider on the road to its February 23 release date.
