A new Stardew Valley release is on deck for February 2027. Stardew Valley is far and away one of the most popular video games of all time. The life/farming sim inspired by Harvest Moon has surpassed its inspirations and become the defining game of its genre, with countless clones hitting the market since Stardew Valley‘s initial release.
Stardew Valley was first released in 2016 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One before making its way to the Nintendo Switch in 2017, the PS Vita and iOS in 2018, Android in 2019, and finally, the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025. Bringing Stardew Valley to new platforms has gone a long way in keeping interest in the game alive, as has the substantial free updates it’s received over the years. Now Stardew Valley fans have a new release to look forward to the near future.
You Can Pre-Order Stardew Valley’s Physical Release on Switch 2 Right Now
The Switch 2 version of Stardew Valley is getting a physical release on Nintendo Switch 2, courtesy of Fangamer, with pre-orders available right now. Retailing for $39, the Stardew Valley Switch 2 version comes with a reversible cover representing JojaMart, and a classic-style manual. And while it is the Switch 2 version of Stardew Valley, the cartridge is still playable on the original Switch for those that have yet to upgrade to Nintendo’s newest console.
Stardew Valley‘s Switch 2 version comes with some additional perks not available in the OG Switch release. For example, Stardew Valley on Switch 2 features enhanced co-op support so up to four people can play split-screen at once, with eight players possible online. GameShare is also supported, so only one copy of the game is needed to enjoy multiplayer. Not only that, but the Switch 2 version of Stardew Valley supports the Joy-Con 2’s mouse controls, which is a very convenient way to play the game.
With the video game industry moving away from physical media, it’s especially nice to see physical releases like this being announced. Yes, the physical version of Stardew Valley on Switch 2 costs quite a bit more than the digital one ($14.99 versus $39), but those that buy it are getting the game on a cartridge, a manual, and a case with gorgeous art that is sure to be a collector’s item one day. There is still real value in physical game releases, and so for many, the $39 physical copy of Stardew Valley on the Nintendo Switch 2 may very well be worth it.
Stardew Valley enthusiasts that have already had their fill of the game may be wondering what’s next from developer ConcernedApe. While more Stardew Valley updates are certainly possible, ConcernedApe is also working on a brand-new game called Haunted Chocolatier. Haunted Chocolatier is about players running their own confectionery store, but with a supernatural twist, as they will be able to interact with ghosts along with the normal townspeople. Haunted Chocolatier looks like it will offer an experience not far from what Stardew Valley brings to the table, and it will be interesting to see if it has the same cultural impact as its predecessor.
