The official #SaveMassEffect petition has reached a major milestone, showing Mass Effect fans are relentless in their push to revive the franchise. Just over two weeks ago, on October 21, legendary RPG studio BioWare took to social media to announce its closure and the cancellation of its unrevealed, still-in-progress Mass Effect 4. This is far from the first studio or game franchise EA has canceled, but fans have been very vocal about wanting the revival of Mass Effect ever since.
Mass Effect Petition Officially Gets Over 300,000 Signatures
The official #SaveMassEffect petition has reached a huge milestone, with it getting over 300,000 unique signatures in just two weeks, which is an incredible achievement and shows that fans are not ready to say goodbye to the franchise. Mass Effect is one of the longest-standing RPG franchises in the industry, and BioWare’s other major franchise, Dragon Age, is also coming to an end as a result of the studio’s closure, so fans are hoping that the petition to save Mass Effect can help developers become independent or pass the rights to the franchises to someone else. Interestingly, Destiny 2 followed a similar path to Mass Effect earlier this year, as it was announced that it would get no more updates or content. Still, a fan-made petition got well over 400,000 signatures, and Bungie eventually walked this back.
