Dispatch, the hit episodic superhero workplace comedy, has appeared on Australia’s Nintendo eShop, signaling that the game could soon lose its PS5 console exclusive status. This year has been filled with great surprises, and Dispatch has been one of 2025’s most charming new releases. Switch 2 owners may soon get to find out what all the hype is about.
In Dispatch, players take on the role of Robert Robertson, an ex superhero named Mecha Man whose suit was destroyed while fighting his arch nemesis. Now without a suit, Robert has to work as a dispatcher at a superhero dispatch center. Over the course of eight episodes, players control which heroes Robert sends out to deal with emergencies across the city. Beyond that, Robert has to navigate office politics, build relationships, and work to fix his Mecha Man suit, so he can get back to being the hero he once was. Choices in Dispatch matter, and the variety of outcomes it allows have attracted the attention of a lot of choice-based fans. Since its launch, the only console Dispatch has been available on is the PS5, but that seems like it’s about to change.
Dispatch’s Success Spells Good News for Critical Role’s Game
The success of AdHoc Studios’ Dispatch is admirable on its own, but what it could mean for its Critical Role game elevates it even further.
Dispatch is Now on Australia’s Nintendo eShop, and it Even Has a Release Date
- According to the Nintendo eShop listing, Dispatch is scheduled to come to the Switch 2 on January 29, 2026.
At the time of writing this article, Australia’s Nintendo eShop listing for Dispatch is still live, but it has yet to be posted on the American version of the site. Despite the Switch 2 port not even being announced yet, it’s interesting that the listing already has a release date and price available to see. There’s even a button for pre-ordering, so it’s possible that other versions of the Nintendo eShop are bound to launch Dispatch pages, too. This would mark the first time that Dispatch has been ported to another console, and while it’s exciting news for Switch 2 users, it’s also bad news for Xbox owners.
There Are Currently No Known Plans to Port Dispatch to the Xbox Series X/S
Until this Nintendo eShop listing popped up, it seemed like Dispatch was destined to be a PS5 console exclusive, but it’s possible that developer and publisher AdHoc Studio may be gearing up to expand the game’s audience even more. Dispatch would likely be a strong addition to Xbox Game Pass, but it’s currently unknown if AdHoc Studio is planning on bringing the game to the Microsoft console. As of now, it looks like the Switch 2 is the only other console that the developer plans on porting Dispatch to. Now that its eight-episode season is over, those who get the Switch 2 port will probably also have the benefit of getting to experience all the episodes at once instead of waiting for new episodes every week.
AdHoc Studio has said that the team is “thinking” about making a second season, but it has yet to be fully confirmed. Earlier this year, it was announced that the developer is partnering with Critical Role to make a game set in Exandria, so even if Season 2 happens, it will likely be a while down the road.
Even though Dispatch seems to only be coming to the Switch 2 right now, it’s at least a glimmer of hope for Xbox users that it could also eventually be ported there next. Of course, only time will tell, but Dispatch‘s story hopefully gets the chance to be experienced by as many gamers as possible. Whether it’s choosing the right hero to send to an emergency or trying to navigate Dispatch‘s romance options, this story-driven office comedy filled with superheroes and villains is packed to the brim with charm.
