One of the best horror games of 2025, Francis Coloumbe’s Look Outside, is finally making the leap from PC to console, arriving on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch on October 30. Publisher Devolver Digital shared the exciting news for horror fans wanting to dive into another spooky title in time for Halloween, and the introduction of Look Outside to console audiences will give even more players a chance to enjoy one of the highest-rated indie horror games on Steam from the past five years.
PC has long served as the premiere platform for independent games to reach as many new fans as possible, with early success from indie launches on Steam often resulting in smaller developers being able to port their games over to consoles. Recent years have seen a notable uptick in indie games releasing on PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S, and players have consistently voiced an appreciation for non-AAA titles going the multiplatform route. Look Outside is now the latest indie project to make the move to consoles, and fans who have played the game on PC are already celebrating the upcoming release across PlayStation and Nintendo systems.
Look Outside is Coming to PlayStation and Nintendo Consoles
First released for Steam on March 21, 2025, Look Outside is a pixelated survival horror RPG that puts players in an apartment building where a mysterious event causes anyone who looks outside the structure to transform into grotesque creatures, leaving the world in chaos. Players must carefully traverse the interior of the apartment building, looking for food, supplies, and weapons, all while fighting off the strange, mutated inhabitants. The gameplay mirrors games like Death Road to Canada, and many reviewers have likened its storytelling to hits like Undertale and Deltarune. At the time of writing, Look Outside boasts an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam, so it is perhaps unsurprising that audiences are happy to see the indie horror game readying for a big launch on PS5, PS4, and both the original Switch and Switch 2.
Some of the key features of Look Outside that helped earn it such high praise include in-depth resource management that encompasses playing mini-games, cooking food, and crafting tools, along with inventive turn-based combat that lets players wield makeshift weapons against over 150 unique enemies. Additionally, the pixelated aesthetic adds an uncanny twist to the body horror designs of the mutated creatures, bringing a familiar vibe for fans of John Carpenter’s The Thing. While it may not be the most terrifying horror game of all time, the balance between survival and RPG gameplay, plus a dash of humor, makes for a satisfying formula that offers a fun new experience for Halloween gaming.
October continues to be one of the biggest months for horror gaming, and understandably so, with the spooky season often driving broader interest in both AAA and indie horror games on PC, PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox platforms. Of course, major classics like Resident Evil and Silent Hill tend to draw a large amount of interest around Halloween, but smaller titles like Look Outside also benefit from the increased interest in horror gaming each October, especially with the help of multiplatform launches.
Look Outside is now available for PC via Steam and releases on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch on October 30.
