Xbox Game Pass subscribers who are signed up for the PC and Ultimate tiers of the service can look forward to playing Beast of Reincarnation on day one of its release, August 4. Xbox Game Pass’ main selling point for the higher tiers is the fact that subscribers get brand-new, day one releases without paying anything beyond what they already do for their subscription.
In light of the Xbox Game Pass price hikes that saw the Ultimate tier jump from $19.99 per month to $29.99 per month, Microsoft has attempted to keep people signed up by promising more day one games than ever before. Time will tell if it lives up to that promise, but there really is no denying that 2026 is already stacked when it comes to Game Pass. The Fable reboot, Gears of War: E-Day, Forza Horizon 6, and the Halo 1 remake are all coming to Game Pass as day one releases before the year is out.
New Xbox Game Pass Game is a Big Hit
A newly-added Xbox Game Pass game is proving to be a big hit among users of the subscription service.
Beast of Reincarnation is a Day One Game Pass Game
There are other major games coming to Game Pass in 2026 as well, with one of the most exciting being Beast of Reincarnation. Beast of Reincarnation is coming to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on August 4, and is shaping up to be one of the most impressive-looking games of the year. An action-RPG where players take on the role of Emma the Sealer and travel post-apocalyptic Japan with their dog companion Koo, Beast of Reincarnation has looked incredibly impressive so far. It blends hack-and-slash, real-time action with turn-based combat in a way that makes it look like a completely unique experience, and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will get to play through the game in its entirety without actually buying it.
What makes Beast of Reincarnation even more exciting is the fact that it is developed by Game Freak, the studio behind the main series Pokemon games. Even though Game Freak develops Pokemon and the vast majority of its games have been released exclusively on Nintendo consoles, the studio is not owned by Nintendo and is free to make games for other platforms as well. Still, it’s wild that a Game Freak-developed game is going to debut as a day one Xbox Game Pass title, and it will be interesting to see if it lives up to expectations when it launches on August 4.
Beast of Reincarnation is set to launch for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. No Beast of Reincarnation Switch 2 port has been announced, which is surprising considering Game Freak’s strong relationship with Nintendo. However, it’s possible that Beast of Reincarnation may simply be too much for the Switch 2 to handle. After all, Beast of Reincarnation is a graphical powerhouse leagues ahead of Game Freak’s usual efforts, and while a Switch 2 port may technically be possible, perhaps it would have come with too many compromises compared to the version coming to other platforms.
This isn’t the first time Microsoft has secured a day one Xbox Game Pass game from a studio that normally makes exclusives for its competitors. For multiple years in a row, MLB The Show came to Game Pass as a day one game, despite the fact that it was developed by PlayStation-owned San Diego Studio. The MLB apparently mandated that PlayStation needed to start releasing MLB The Show games as multiplatform releases, which is what opened the door to The Show games coming to Game Pass. The more recent entries in the franchise have skipped Game Pass, however. In any case, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can look forward to checking out Beast of Reincarnation when it launches on August 4.
