It seems like one particular infamous Red Dead Redemption 2 glitch is still present in the game, more than 5 years since it was first discovered. The creepy Red Dead Redemption 2 glitch involves the pixelated and translucent portrait of a man who appears in the upper left corner of the screen.
Red Dead Redemption 2’s world is filled to the brim with interesting content like hunting, fishing, meaningful side quests, and even challenging minigames such as Poker, Dominoes, and Five Finger Fillet. Players who are exploring Rockstar’s Wild West can oftentimes find themselves in the midst of a random encounter that can range from something as simple as a shooting challenge with a fellow cowboy to even an eerie interaction with a ghost. However, in a video game as vast as RDR2, bugs and glitches are unfortunately part of the experience.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Fan Points Out How Interesting Jack Marston’s Life May Have Been
A Red Dead Redemption player shares some fascinating thoughts about the trajectory of Jack’s life after the events of the games.
Reddit user Breen822 found themselves the subject of a creepy glitch when traveling around the swamps found in the Bayou Nwa region. The Redditor claims they were trying to trigger a night folk encounter when instead an unsettling portrait of an NPC appeared on their screen. When a player travels around that particular area at night, there is a slight chance of encountering this odd glitch. Apparently, the unintended visual effect is actually the portrait of an NPC that can be encountered while playing poker. For some unknown reason, RDR2 can sometimes glitch out unexpectedly and actually display the frightening-looking NPC portrait when it shouldn’t. This has been a well-known glitch since quite a few years ago, and it seems like Rockstar still hasn’t gotten around to fixing it just yet.
Gamers are Having Fun at the Expense of the odd Glitch
Breen822’s Reddit post depicting the glitch has gotten the attention of many gamers, who jokingly suggested that the NPC on the screen is actually Gavin, the long-lost friend of Nigel. Others are making hilarious references to Cyberpunk 2077’s video calls, which have a visual effect that looks almost exactly like the glitch found in Red Dead Redemption 2. Metal Gear Solid‘s Codec calls were also referenced.
While the poker glitch has a pretty high chance of occurring throughout the game, RDR2 is also the subject of another popular glitch involving a bridge. Red Dead Redemption 2’s bugged wooden bridge can act as a human slingshot, sending the player character flying into the air. When used in a certain way, RDR2 players can even exploit this in order to explore some otherwise unreachable locations. This goes to show that even though most video game bugs can be annoying, some of them can inject a bit of fun into a gamer’s playthrough.
