Season 3 of Overwatch is now right around the corner and Blizzard has begun showcasing the latest character joining the roster, the dual pistol, motorcycle riding damage hero, Shion. After reinventing itself earlier this year, Overwatch continues its strong momentum through 2026, with plenty more content on the way for the back half of the year.
Following Overwatch‘s big revival and overhaul earlier this year, Season 2 was a little bit more uneven as it introduced a number of controversies with its players. The big 10th Anniversary celebration for Overwatch kicked off in Season 2, though it wasn’t quite what some fans were expecting. While it did add new content, including 21 exclusive launch hero skins and other cosmetics, players noted the lack of content overall, with some rewards being near unobtainable. The outcry became so loud that Overwatch director Aaron Keller took to social media to address concerns, resulting in an increase of loot boxes as well as a reduction of completed challenges needed to unlock the special Table Flip title.

Overwatch Reveals Shion’s Abilities
As Overwatch now turns the page to Season 3, Blizzard has confirmed the next hero coming to the game. As part of Overwatch‘s 10 new heroes joining in 2026, Blizzard revealed more on Shion through a dedicated gameplay trailer, showing off what the new damage hero is capable of. As many expected, her kit does include the motorcycle, which she can not only ride around, but launch at enemies as well. She has a dash ability that allows her to gain “overhealth” and can shoot her dual Kira pistols in an “X” shaped volley, which can be tighened if the player holds down the activation button.

As for her ultimate, Satsuriku Spree, Shion rushes forward 3 times while also releasing a storm of gunfire. Her passive subrole is that of a Flanker, which also allows health packs to restore more health than normal. Players will want to utilize her speed and movement abilities to get around to the back of the enemy team to take them by surprise.
From a story perspective, Shion is a high-ranking member of the Hashimoto Clan, an omnic who utilizes fast movements and dual pistols to get the job done. In Shion’s hero trailer for Overwatch, she battled Sojourn over weapons that were bound for Talon’s leader, Vendetta. Shion also joins a long list of characters associated with the crime syndicate Hashimoto Clan, including Mizuki, while at odds with the rival Shimada Clan, of which Hanzo and Genji were once part of. Kiriko’s parents, Asa and Toshiro, were also forced to be part of the Hashimoto Clan, thanks to their remarkable blacksmithing skills.

In a surprising move, Blizzard relaunched Season 1 with 5 new heroes added to the roster, with another additional 5 set to join throughout each season in 2026. Season 1 added fan favorites like Jetpack Cat and Domina, among the full set of characters, each adding a unique element to the existing cast. Season 2 of Overwatch added Sierra, the Helix Security captain who is working with Overwatch at Grand Mesa to prevent Talon agents from stealing intel. Sierra features a drone which she can use in combat to drop explosives or as a movement option for getting around the map quickly.
