As part of the celebrations at BlizzCon 2026, Overwatch shared an updated image of its full 2026 character roster, including a fully revealed Hero 55. Alongside Blizzard’s other massive franchises, Overwatch had plenty to share with fans at BlizzCon including the arrival of Doctrine and the current narrative storyline featuring Doomfist and his team. With 2026 slowly winding down, Overwatch still has a few more tricks up its sleeve.
2026 has been a banner year for Overwatch and its revival. Back in February, Blizzard announced sweeping changes to Overwatch, officially dropping the “2” from its name, confirming 10 new heroes to release throughout the year, and a greater focus on the game’s overall narrative. The relaunch proved to be the right call as Overwatch experienced a surge in players and excitement once again, which has continued thanks to new seasonal content and playable heroes. Following the announcement of Doctrine, Blizzard also gave fans their best look yet at the final hero scheduled to arrive in 2026.
Overwatch Officially Reveals Hero 55
Even though the Omnic is still without an official name, Blizzard finally revealed what Hero 55 looks like in a new image posted alongside the celebrations taking place at BlizzCon 2026. Officially confirmed to be a support character, Hero 55 is an Omnic dressed in a fedora, suit, and a long coat, which many have associated with being a detective. The character is also holding an umbrella, which will no doubt factor into the kit once it is ultimately revealed later this year.

There had been some worry from fans over the character after Blizzard quietly changed Hero 55’s silhouette in the official 2026 character image following the launch of D.Mon. Fans noticed that the long slowing coat was suddenly shorter, the fedora was altered slightly, the popped collar was now flatter, and the Omnic-style eye glow was removed as well. As it turns out, the fears were largely unfounded, as the official Hero 55 artwork does appear to be a bit flashier than the revised silhouette hinted. The jacket shows a bit of movement, the hat pops a bit more, and what many thought was a cane is actually an umbrella.

In terms of the actual announcements, Overwatch fans got their first look at Doctrine, an ally of Doomfist. The support hero is heavily inspired by vampires and uses a scepter that can heal allies and damage enemies. He also has bat drones that can be sent out to not only heal teammates but buff the speed of their attacks. However, Doctrine also has some interesting movement tech available, rushing through battle in a shroud of darkness, but he can also take flight, meaning enemy players will need to be on their toes when he’s on the field.
In addition to Doctrine, Season 5 will also be bringing reworked kits for both Sombra and Roadhog. Sombra is now taking on more of a tactician support style role, losing her ability to go invisible in favor of being able to heal allies using her Hotfix skill or creating a zone that weakens enemies and heals allies. Roadhog remains a tank, including his trademark hook, but his heals also give him better damage resistance, and he can now absorb enemy projectiles and fire them back as an explosive ball of scrap.
