Palworld 1.0 is already one of the most popular games of July, as developer Pocketpair shared the game’s Steam peak player count following its full release. The high player count for Palworld came as players returned to Pocketpair’s open-world survival crafting title to see what changes were made following its early access window.

The highly anticipated 1.0 launch of Palworld came after two years of early access. During the game’s development, Palworld added several new Pals for players to find and new islands to explore. In Palworld 1.0, new islands, weapons, Pals, and other features were added to complete the overall experience. Due to the changes made to Palworld between early access and 1.0, Pocketpair asked Palworld players to consider starting a new save file to play the game through fresh eyes.

Palworld 1.0 is a Huge Hit on Steam

Following the release of Palworld 1.0 and the extensive changes that came with it, thousands of Steam players returned to the Palpagos Islands to see what surprises were in store. Pocketpair stated on social media that Palworld had over 850,000 concurrent Steam players on Sunday, July 12. The milestone was set just two days after Palworld 1.0 was released on all platforms. Pocketpair publishing and communications head John “Bucky” Buckley followed up by stating that Palworld 1.0 also had a 93.41% positive rating on Steam. As of this writing, Palworld‘s Steam player count has slightly tapered off. However, Pocketpair did not reveal any player count numbers for other platforms that Palworld is on, such as PS5 and Xbox Game Pass.

While 850,000 players is an impressive feat, Palworld‘s all-time peak player count on Steam was set when it launched in early access in January 2024, when the game had over 2.1 million players. Despite being just under half of its all-time peak player count on Steam, Palworld 1.0’s 24-hour peak player count has already eclipsed other Steam titles released within the last month, such as Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced and the hit indie game Meccha Chameleon. As of this writing, Black Flag Resynced‘s all-time player peak count on Steam was 104,756 users, which was set on July 12. Additionally, Meccha Chameleon had a peak count of 340,534 Steam players a few days after its June 9 launch.

Along with the various changes made to Palworld in version 1.0, one key reason behind the game’s success on Steam is its affordable price tag. While some games typically undergo a price change when transitioning from early access to full release, that was not the case with Palworld 1.0. In short, Pocketpair opted to keep Palworld‘s MSRP at $29.99. However, Steam players have until Thursday, July 23, to buy Palworld for $20.99, a 30% discount off its usual price tag.

Despite Palworld facing a lawsuit from Nintendo over some of the game’s features, that has not stopped the game from achieving success on Steam and other platforms. With Palworld 1.0 now fully released, time will tell what Pocketpair has planned to keep players engaged throughout 2026 and beyond.
