The first patch for Palworld following its successful 1.0 launch is now available for players to download. While no new content was added in Palworld version 1.0.1, it is recommended that players update the game to ensure no problems arise.
Palworld‘s 1.0 launch was a resounding success, as thousands of players returned to the Palpagos Islands to see what has changed since the game’s early access window. According to Pocketpair, over 850,000 concurrent Steam players logged into Palworld during the second weekend of July. Despite a minor dip, Palworld‘s Steam player count remained higher than other summer releases on the platform, including Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
Palworld Releases First Patch Since 1.0 Launch
Days after Palworld 1.0 went live following two years of early access, Pocketpair released a new update to address some lingering issues. Palworld version 1.0.1 requires approximately 240 MB of additional storage space. The update reportedly fixed an issue in which Palworld save data could be unintentionally deleted if certain operations took place. Although the developer asked users to consider starting a new save file for the 1.0 release, players from the game’s early access period can still load up their older save files. It is unclear what exactly caused save data to be deleted by accident in Palworld version 1.0. An additional save error issue exclusive to the PS5 client was also fixed, in which a save error would repeatedly occur when trying to return to the game’s title screen.

One additional issue fixed with Palworld version 1.0.1 previously caused players who touched a campfire to get a burning status effect that would persist beyond the normal limit. In the game, a burn causes damage over time and increases the target’s temperature. Certain Pal Partner Skills can also cause various effects on targets afflicted with a burn, such as suffering increased damage from other Pal attacks. Given that a campfire is one of the first items players can make at a base during Palworld‘s early game, the version 1.0.1 update should give new Palworld players one less thing to worry about.
Another notable bug that was fixed with Palworld‘s 1.0.1 update concerned the Xbox version of the game. After teleporting to any location, the Xbox game client would freeze for about 30 seconds before returning to normal. Since Palworld is available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S systems, it is unclear if the freezing bug was on all Xbox consoles or a specific one. But given that Xbox Series X/S consoles use a solid-state drive (SSD) for fast load times, any freezing bug that can occur when a game is stored on an SSD would give developers cause for concern.
Since Palworld 1.0 made several changes to the game’s open-world and tech systems, it is likely that Pocketpair will release more bug fixes as needed in the coming days. It remains to be seen what other issues are still on the developer’s to-do list.
