Fans of Palworld should gear up for the release of a major update that includes new buildings, weapons, and more. Perhaps the most remarkable plan is the addition of a new Pal PvP arena that allows fans to pit themselves and their Pals against real opponents. However, the upcoming structure may benefit from having an additional feature that will make combat more interesting.
While Palworld has remained a PvE experience, many players have been clamoring for a PvP mode. The game’s future update ensures that players can enter an arena and bring a team of three of their best Pals, along with any weapons and armor they’ve crafted, to fight against others on similar terms. The concept of combat within an enclosed space can be captivating but may get stale quickly. This issue can be circumvented by introducing varied terrain within the arena, allowing for different experiences with every fight.
Palworld Reveals 4 New Pals Coming This Summer
During the ID@Xbox Showcase, Pocket Pair gives Palworld players a glimpse of four new Pals and a new environment coming this summer.
Why Should the Pal Arena Have Varied Terrain?
While the inclusion of PvP will bring hours of enjoyment and frustration, being able to fight on only one style of terrain can get monotonous very quickly. The inclusion of different fighting grounds with varied mechanics will make every battle experience feel unique, giving players more incentive to visit the arena. Also, additional terrain also allows for more experimentation as players will scramble to figure out the best Pals of each type and whatever weapons and armor will work on specific battle terrain.
The Biomes as Inspiration for the Pal Arena’s New Terrains
Players who have explored numerous islands to find Palworld‘s best base locations, mines, resources, and more have definitely experienced the beautiful but unforgiving biomes. Each one is visually distinct and has the following features that further separate them from one another:
- Forest Biome – home to early game Pals and requires basic cold-resistant armor at night due to temperature drops
- Volcano Biome – consists of mostly Fire-type Pals and requires advanced heat-resistant armor to deal with the extreme heat
- Desert Biome – contains fire, grass, electric, and ground-type Pals and requires advanced heat-resistant armor during the day and advanced cold-resistant armor during the night
- Snow Biome – high-level biome composed of mostly Ice-type Pals and requires advanced cold-resistant armor to survive
New arena terrain can easily take inspiration from any of the Palworld biomes. Unique mechanics such as Pal limitations or weapon and armor debuffs can also be implemented. Again, this helps keep the arena engaging, as players will need to find out what Pals they cannot take to battle or what equipment they can use despite the deterioration of effectiveness.
Why Palworld’s Pal Arena is Arriving at the Right Time
With Palworld’s exciting new Pal Arena set to arrive sometime this year, the PvP battle mode is coming to the game at the right time.
Adding new terrain can also benefit Palworld‘s developers as it provides opportunities to create visually pleasing environments within the arena. The best areas to explore in Palworld often have several environmental objects that affect exploration and combat. This can be used as inspiration for crafting different terrains with unique features. Implementing ideas like a volcanic-themed fighting ground with dangerous lava pits all over the field or an aquatic-themed domain requiring nothing but Water-type Pals can make for beautiful and chaotic spectacles.
Introducing varied terrain into the arena would be an interesting bit of design, but may also lead to problems during implementation. Palworld often has hilarious bugs or game-breaking glitches, and the probability of more being introduced via several unique arena terrains is highly likely. Until the developers can work out how to include such an update without disrupting the core PvP mechanics and balance, its inclusion may be far into the future.
