PC Gamers Can Claim 24 Free Games Right Now, But There’s a Catch

PC gamers with a STOVE account can currently claim the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection for free if they get it before December 31. The collection includes over 20 classic arcade games, including the Zelda-like title Crystalis. December has been a lucrative month for PC gamers, as major storefronts, including Steam and the Epic Games Store, have been generously giving away free games. This latest promotion, however, comes from a South Korean game store that some PC users may not be familiar with. Still, it offers a deal that many video game enthusiasts will find hard to pass up.

SNK is one of the oldest names in the arcade game industry. Previously known as Shin Nihon Kikaku, the company is best known for arcade fighting game franchises like Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, and The King of Fighters. However, the Japanese company’s track record extends far beyond these few IPs, which is evident in its 40th Anniversary Collection. Initially released in 2018, the compilation includes tens of retro games from the developer, none of which are installments from the aforementioned franchises.

Steam Users Have Until December 31 to Claim Free Top-Down Shooter Game

Steam users can claim an interesting-looking top-down shooter for free and keep it forever, but the limited-time promotion is ending soon.

SNK 40th Anniversary Collection with 24 Retro Games Is Free Right Now

PC users have until December 31 to claim the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection on the STOVE store completely free of charge. The collection includes 24 classic SNK arcade games, featuring several highly regarded titles such as Ikari Warriors, Alpha Mission, Athena, and Crystalis. The SNK 40th Anniversary Collection is typically priced at around $30 USD, making this promotion on STOVE a strong opportunity for fans of classic 80s-era retro games to save some money. The only catch is that players must download and install STOVE’s exclusive PC client, which is available on Windows.

SNK 40th Anniversary Collection Is Literally a Museum of Arcade Games

Most of the games in the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection date back to the late 70s and early 90s, making it an ideal pick for retro game fans. The collection comes with a built-in digital SNK Museum, which includes never-before-seen promotional assets and high-definition original artwork. The feature allows fans to take a deeper look behind the scenes of some of their favorite games and better understand how they were made or promoted at the time. The collection also features Ozma Wars, one of SNK’s oldest shoot ’em up games, giving players a chance to experience some of the company’s earliest work in the video game industry, which will evoke nostalgia for many longtime fans.

PC Gamers Have More Free Games to Claim Right Now

Caveman World: Mountains of Unga Boonga is available until December 30, while Undercroft Warriors can be claimed for free until December 31. Meanwhile, the Epic Games Store’s holiday promotion is still ongoing, with users having until December 28 at 10:00am CST to claim Cassette Beasts.
