PC Gamers Have Limited Time to Claim Horror Game

PC Gamers Have Limited Time to Claim Horror Game

An indie horror game called Lord of Chaos is free to keep on PC for a very limited time. What makes Lord of Chaos an interesting pick is its blend of different genres, as it combines “cozy vibes” with a horror story. PC gamers who enjoy games with good music might also want to check out this freebie, as its soundtrack is quite unique.

August has had its fair share of free-to-keep promotions on PC so far. Right now, for example, gamers can look forward to the Lenovo Legion Gaming Community giveaway, which will give them free Steam keys for Before Your Eyes and The Walking Dead, two highly rated narrative-centric games. They can also grab Lord of Chaos at no cost if they want to experience a short, quirky, and spooky adventure.

Steam’s Free-to-Keep Promotion Confirms 3 Giveaways for October 2026 Ahead of Time

Three individual Steam Free-to-Keep Promotions are confirmed to take place in October 2026 ahead of the planned releases.

Save 100% on Lord of Chaos via itch.io

Developer Hexnut Studios has put a 100% discount on Lord of Chaos until August 25 at 8:30 PM. Any PC gamer with a free itch.io account should be able to claim the game with no strings attached. Lord of Chaos is normally priced at $3.99 USD and offers about an hour of campaign content. In terms of genre, it could be seen as a walking sim with horror elements, but the game also has a cozy atmosphere, perhaps due to its PS1-style low-poly visuals.

Players take on the role of an investigator who needs to attend to reports of paranormal activity. There are some slow-paced actions that are meant to build suspense and tension for the second half. Interestingly, neither the story nor the jump scares seem to be Lord of Chaos‘ strong suit.

Many players have pointed out that Lord of Chaos‘ best feature is its original soundtrack. Developer Hexnut Studios created several tracks for the game that drastically change the atmosphere. Thanks to that, Lord of Chaos can be seen as an indie game with catchy music and a horror experience that makes scary encounters feel like a music video. Luckily, Hexnut Studios has released the soundtrack separately, and all the tracks are free to listen to on a platform called Beatstars.

Until August 26, PC users can claim Bolmn for free on the Epic Games Store. It is not part of the platform’s weekly promotions, so many might miss it. EGS will also make Breathedge and Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition free on August 27. Steam has been quite slow in terms of freebies in August, and it currently has only one game lined up as a giveaway. Dokimon Quest is set to receive a 100% discount on Valve’s storefront on August 24, and it will remain free to claim for 48 hours. Later in October, Steam is likely to give away three DLCs for the following games: MXGP 26, Gear.Club Unlimited 3, and Hunting Simulator 3.
