Physical Copies Of Indie Shmup Wings Of Bluestar Include "Certificate of Physicality"

Released for PC back in 2020, Wings of Bluestar earned positive reviews from shoot-’em-up fans thanks to its retro art style, classic side-scrolling action, and heaps of unlockables. It would eventually get digital ports to consoles–and on May 27, Wings of Bluestar is finally getting a physical edition for PS5. If you’re eager to add the indie gem to your catalog, preorders are now open at Amazon. Only 2,000 copies are being produced, so this might be one of your few chances to snag it for cheap. There’s also an Extra Edition packed with collectibles, and it’s even more exclusive, with only 500 copies produced.

Wings of Bluestar is something of a hidden gem–even on Steam, it has fewer than 100 reviews, the majority of which are positive. Shinu Real Arts, the team behind the shoot-em-up, is also quite small. Following the release of Wings of Bluestar, it launched Shockwave Triggers–another hectic shooter with a retro art style–in 2025. The game is just $10 on PC, so consider checking it out if you’re looking for another game with lots of character.

For more indie darlings, this month’s Platinum Collection on Fanatical is loaded with options. You’ll get to build your own bundle from a long list of titles–and the more you bundle, the cheaper the games become. Highlights include a double-pack featuring Braid and The Witness, the old-school RPG, Pale Coins, and the survival horror game, Dead Format.

You can also preorder R-Type Dimensions III, which releases on May 19. A remake of a shoot-’em-up from 1993, you’ll find several editions up for grabs–including one that’s bundled with a terrifying Dobkeratops figurine.

Disclosure: GameSpot and Fanatical are both owned by Fandom.
