‘Players Do Not Realize The Sheer Number of Collabs We’ve Rejected’ Palworld Dev Comments on Terraria Crossover

A Palworld developer is sharing the company’s approach to bringing new collabs to the monster-catching survival game, teasing the significant number of collabs the game has rejected. Palworld has only featured two official in-game collaborations with other games.

The monster-catching survival game from developer Pocketpair has been one of the biggest success stories in gaming since its 2024 early access release. The game quickly caught fire among fans for its combination of a wide array of adorable Pals and its survival gameplay, similar to games like Minecraft. Palworld quickly amassed 8 million sales within the first week of its early access debut, while the game recently launched its long-awaited Version 1.0 update in July 2026, adding many Pals and new areas to explore. Now, one of Palworld‘s most outspoken developers is sharing their thoughts on Palworld‘s strategy with crossovers.

Palworld Is Officially Expanding to More Platforms

A brand-new, official Palworld spinoff has just been announced, bringing the beloved survival crating game to new platforms later this year.

Palworld Will Only Add Crossovers That “Make Sense”

Pocketpair’s Head of Publishing and Communications, Bucky, gave their thoughts on collabs in response to a post about Palworld‘s Terraria crossover. Bucky addressed his understanding of some fans’ negativity towards the collab, feeling that, while the crossover didn’t particularly fit from a lore standpoint, the game takes a “fun-first approach” with its collaborations. Bucky also shared that Pocketpair would not consider a collaboration if it “didn’t make sense” for Palworld, hinting at the “sheer number of collabs” that Pocketpair has rejected for not fitting with the game. Bucky did not mention any specific collaborations that Palworld has declined in the past.

Palworld has been relatively light with its in-game collaborations since the game released, only adding two crossovers to the main game. The previously mentioned Terraria crossover was the first official in-game collaboration for the game, adding the Tides of Terraria event with a special crossover dungeon and enemies from Terraria. The game introduced a crossover with Ultrakill in December 2025, adding both the V1 and V2 armor to the game as equipment that players can unlock using Ancient Technology Points. Palworld has not confirmed any future collaborations coming to the game.

Crossovers have become increasingly commonplace in the gaming world in recent years, with many popular games dipping into collaborations. Many games like Fortnite and the Super Smash Bros. series have been built on the strength of their crossovers, bringing popular characters from movies, TV shows, video games, and more together in one game. Even the trading card game industry has continued to see more crossovers, including Magic: The Gathering pushing its Universe Beyond initiative and crossing over with franchises like Lord of the Rings and Marvel.

Palworld fans should have plenty to be excited about for the game in the future, whether new crossovers are added or not. Pocketpair recently dropped a teaser about Palworld‘s in-development Version 1.1 update, revealing that work has begun on the first update following the game’s full release. The developers have also been pushing the game as a full franchise, officially launching a trading card game in late July and revealing a farming sim spinoff in Palworld: Palfarm in late 2025. Palworld is primed to maintain its early success well into the future, with lots on the way for the fledgling franchise.
