PlayStation 5 gamers that have finished Marvel’s Wolverine now know what the next exclusive game for the platform is, and exactly when it will be released to the masses. The PlayStation 5 has been criticized for not having as many exclusives as its predecessor, but it still has some heavy-hitter exclusives to its name. The Demon’s Souls remake is excellent, Astro Bot won Game of the Year in 2024, and Ghost of Yotei also earned a great deal of critical acclaim at the time of its release.
The latest PS5 exclusive to hit the market is Marvel’s Wolverine, which launched in September to mostly positive reviews, but its reception was still significantly more mixed than most first-party PlayStation games. Now that fans have had plenty of time to play through Wolverine‘s story, they may be wondering what’s next when it comes to PS5 exclusives, and luckily, they know exactly what’s in store.
PS5’s Next Exclusive Game After Wolverine
The next PS5 exclusive game after Wolverine is Until Dawn 2, set to launch on January 28, 2027. Until Dawn 2 is being developed by Firesprite, with assistance from Dispatch developer AdHoc Studio. Like the original game, Until Dawn 2 is a narrative-driven adventure game that is essentially a playable horror movie. Player choice shapes the character actions and relationships, giving players the chance to influence who lives and who dies. The new game will feature some nods to the first game’s story, but will be mostly an original tale and follow an all-new cast.
Until Dawn 2‘s story is about a group of ghost hunters who stage fake paranormal encounters for content. The crew travel to a tropical island where they run into real paranormal entities, and chaos ensues. While there have been plenty of Until Dawn-style games released in the years since the original, and even a full-blown PS4 remake, Until Dawn 2 marks the first direct sequel and so there’s a bit more hype behind it than some of the similar projects that have materialized.
But while Until Dawn 2 is the next pure PS5 exclusive on the horizon, a new console exclusive is releasing in the more immediate future. Phantom Blade Zero is a PS5 console exclusive, meaning that while it’s also releasing on PC, the only way for console gamers to play it is on Sony’s console. Phantom Blade Zero is a Chinese action game that has been turning heads for years, and it will be exciting to see if it lives up to the hype once its release date rolls around on October 29.
As far as future pure PS5 exclusives go, there are some more that we know are in the pipeline. God of War Laufey is releasing on February 16, not long after Until Dawn 2 hits the scene, and then there’s Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet to consider. We also know that the original God of War trilogy is getting remade, but time will tell when we will see those games in action.
