PlayStation Plus subscribers have a brand-new Spider-Man free download coming their way on Tuesday, October 6. October 6 is going to be a particularly busy day for PlayStation Plus subscribers, as that’s also the day that the free games for October 2026 are being released to the masses as part of the Essential tier.
On October 6, PS Plus subscribers will have three new games to add to their digital libraries, regardless of what tier of the service they are signed up for. F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 will all be available on that day, and subscribers can keep them forever as long as they are signed up for PS Plus (and claim them before their free giveaway window expires on November 2, of course). But the free games aren’t the only freebies PS Plus subscribers can look forward to on October 6.
PS Plus Giving Away Spider-Man: Brand New Day Avatars
Also on October 6, Sony is giving away limited-edition Spider-Man: Brand New Day PlayStation Avatars. The avatars can be claimed through the Sony Pictures Core app and feature various characters from the movie, including Spider-Man himself and The Punisher. Non-PS Plus subscribers interested in adding the Brand New Day avatars to their roster will need to purchase a copy of Spider-Man: Brand New Day through Sony Pictures Core. But that’s not all, as there is even more for PS Plus subscribers to snag on October 6.

Along with the free games and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, PS Plus subscribers can also claim the Starter Pack for Hunt: Showdown 1896. The Starter Pack is being given away as part of the PS Plus Horror Fest promotion. Previously, a special Call of Duty: Warzone PS Plus pack was given away as part of the same promotion, for use in both the battle royale and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. The third and final Horror Fest giveaway is coming on October 7, with PS Plus subscribers able to claim the Dragur Reinhardt skin plus five tier skips for Overwatch.
Later in October, PS Plus subscribers can look forward to new Extra and Premium games being added. The full lineup of PS Plus Extra and Premium games for October 2026 has yet to be revealed, but do we know that Mycopunk will be one of the games. Mycopunk is a 4-player co-op looter-shooter that was first released on PC in 2025 and earned mostly positive reviews. It should make a solid addition to the PS Plus Extra library, and it will be interesting to see what other games join it as part of the October 2026 additions.
While PS Plus subscribers wait for the new Extra/Premium games, the Horror Fest giveaways, and the Spider-Man: Brand New Day avatars, they should note that there’s still time to claim the September freebies. As a reminder, the PS Plus free games for September 2026 were MLB The Show 26, Sniper Elite: Resistance, and Wobbly Life, and all three are up for grabs until Monday, October 5.
