Pokemon Fan Art Imagines What a Mega Luvdisc Would Look Like

Pokemon Fan Art Imagines What a Mega Luvdisc Would Look Like

Although Luvdisc is one of the most underutilized critters in the Pokemon franchise, a fan artist shared a concept design of what it could look like were it capable of Mega Evolution. The Pokemon fan artist then added what role Mega Luvdisc could fulfill in a competitive battle, while other trainers provided feedback on how it could be more powerful than before.

Known as the Rendezvous Pokemon, Luvdisc first appeared in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. Luvdisc has a heart-shaped body, dark eyes, and is often seen swimming in pairs throughout tropical waters. Due to this heart-shaped design, Luvdisc is often interpreted in the Pokemon series as a symbol of good luck to couples. A wild Luvdisc has a chance to carry a Heart Scale, which can be traded to a Move Relearner to teach Pokemon some moves normally gained via leveling up. Other than being a reliable source of Heart Scales, Luvdisc is far from the strongest Water-type Pokemon, aside from its high base speed stat.

Used Nintendo 3DS Systems Are Suddenly Getting Way More Expensive

Purchasing a used Nintendo 3DS system, discontinued years ago, has quickly become an expensive endeavor.

Pokemon Fan Art Depicts What Mega Luvdisc Could Look Like

Although Luvdisc has seen some fan art designs over the years, one artist chose to give the Rendezvous Pokemon a Mega Evolution following the launch of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. On the Pokemon subreddit, a Reddit user named KikiMongoose created a design concept for Mega Luvdisc. Along with still being a Water-type Pokemon, Mega Luvdisc was given the Fairy-type as a secondary type, similar to other critters like Primarina. Mega Luvdisc also gained a heart-shaped tail, with golden fins on its top and bottom sides. Mega Luvdisc also had smaller heart-shaped fins on its sides. Mega Luvdisc’s color palette consisted of various pink and yellow tones, with pastel pink being used on its mouth and side fins. KikiMongoose also drew a concept for what Luvdisc’s Mega Stone could look like, with two tones of pink and a shade of gold detailed throughout. Pokemon trainers responded positively to KikiMongoose’s interpretation of Mega Luvdisc.

KikiMongoose stated that, while they are inexperienced in competitive Pokemon matches, they said Mega Luvdisc could be useful as a supportive team member in a Double Battle thanks to its high speed. In response, Pokemon trainers stated that Luvdisc’s low base stat total could carry over to Mega Luvdisc, making its usage limited if it were an actual Mega-Evolved Pokemon. However, other Pokemon trainers suggested that Mega Luvdisc could benefit from an ability like Huge Power, which would double its physical attack statistic and allow it to take advantage of moves like Liquidation and Facade. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Luvdisc can have either Swift Swim or Hydration as its abilities, both of which require rain on the battlefield to activate.

The Next Pokemon Games Could Feature Plenty of Water Types

Although Luvdisc currently cannot evolve into other forms, the Rendezvous Pokemon could still appear in future Pokemon games. 2026 is the Pokemon franchise’s 30th anniversary, and The Pokemon Company is sparing no effort in promoting the occasion. On December 31, 2025, The Pokemon Company shared a social media post that featured Pikachu rolling around with a Poke Ball. Pokemon then teased that 2026 is “going to be the best one yet” and told fans to mark down the upcoming Pokemon Day, February 27, 2026, on the calendar.

Given that The Pokemon Company has hosted a Pokemon Presents broadcast on Pokemon Day, it goes without saying that it will do the same for the Pokemon franchise’s 30th anniversary. Additionally, some leaks about Pokemon’s Gen 10 titles, which fans have called Pokemon Wind(s) and Pokemon Wave(s), have stated that the next region could be a tropical archipelago based on Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Given that Luvdisc is a Water Pokemon found in warm, tropical waters, it remains to be seen if the Rendezvous Pokemon will also appear in the next Pokemon game generation, and if it will receive any changes.
