A Pokemon fan has created a pair of impressive watercolor paintings depicting Kyogre and Groudon. While some fan creations show Kyogre and Groudon battling each other, these artworks see the two in their natural environments without their mortal enemy in sight.
Groudon and Kyogre got their start in the Pokemon series back in Gen 3 with Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, serving as the two games’ cover art mascots, respectively. While the two Pokemon have largely stepped out of the spotlight as the series has progressed, the pair hasn’t lost its hold on the fanbase. Groudon and Kyogre are often the subject of fanart, with fans intrigued by their designs and constant conflict.

Impressive Art Gives Demon Slayer’s Inosuke a Pokemon Team
A talented Demon Slayer fan devises artwork that showcases the six creatures that Inosuke would pick if he had a Pokemon team.
Now, Pokemon fan and artist classyflashy has shared their two watercolor paintings depicting the Legendary Pokemon. Kyogre is depicted under the ocean waves, diving deep into the dark water. Keen-eyed players may notice that it’s not alone, with Sharpedo lurking in the background, as well as Huntail, Milotic, and a group of Luvdisc swimming nearby. The Kyogre is shown approaching a sunken ship nestled on the sea floor, possibily indicating that this art is set in the distant past.
Meanwhile, Groudon is seen rampaging on the earth’s surface in the second watercolor piece. Instead of soothing blue water, the artwork shows the area surrounding Groudon as being completely aflame, with lava flowing around and the sun’s beams intensifying the sense of heat. A pitiful Flygon looks on at the raging destruction in the piece.
Fans have been very positive about the art of the two primal beast Pokemon, expressing their praise for the composition and execution of the artworks. Players joked about Groudon’s expression, with one suggesting that it looked like the Pokemon had stepped on a giant LEGO piece. Others were openly sympathetic to the Flygon standing in the foreground. Several Pokemon fans asked if the artist sells their work, to which they replied that they have prints available for sale.
What’s Next for Groudon and Kyogre?
With Groudon and Kyogre not having been featured heavily in recent Pokemon games, fans may be wondering if that will change. Nothing official has been announced regarding the two’s future appearances at this time. However, very little is known about the upcoming title Pokemon Legends: Z-A, though it’s known that Mega Evolution is returning. With the trio of the group, Rayquaza having previously received a Mega Evolution, there’s a possiblity that the entire trio may make some kind of significant appearance. For the moment, players will just have to wait and see what Game Freak has in mind.
