A Pokemon fan is currently selling a custom-made golden Game Boy Advance SP system that is based on a Shiny Magikarp. Not only that, this custom-made Game Boy Advance handheld console has a gold chrome shell, and is currently available for sale for $300. The custom gold plating, artwork, and upgrade from a normal Game Boy Advance SP might make it worth the purchase.
The original Game Boy Advance launched in 2001 as part of the sixth generation of gaming, and is the successor to Nintendo’s Game Boy. The first iteration of Nintendo’s handheld console was originally designed with a “landscape” form factor in mind, being more rectangular. A newer model with a backlit screen and clamshell-like design was then released in 2003, known as the Game Boy Advance SP, with a number of other improvements, such as a rechargeable battery. This model would become one of the most popular variants of the GBA sold. Fans have taken to customizing their own variants of the classic handheld, such as an incredible custom console designed after a Shiny Magikarp.

The Game Boy Advance handheld console had some of the most iconic Pokemon games. While they are all loved, some are better than others.
This custom version of the console is being sold through DK’s Game Emporium, available for pre-order. The Game Boy Advance SP – Shining Magikarp Edition system starts at $300, and was designed by SuperGusiLand. This custom-made Game Boy Advance SP console has a gold chrome shell, with artwork of a Shiny Magikarp emblazoned on the top half. This art is based on the Shiny Magikarp Pokemon card from the Neo Revelation expansion of the Pokemon Trading Card game. The design of the card itself is based on the famous Japanese art, Hokusai’s “The Great Wave off Kanagawa.”

This custom Game Boy Advance system also incorporates a bunch of modern features as well, alongside the classic ones. In addition to a newer backlit screen, fans can add USB-C charging, HDMI compatibility, and RGB LED buttons, bringing up the price to $530, excluding shipping. These additional features make for a handheld console that is a combination of contemporary and retro.
DK Emporium also allows fans to build their own custom Game Boy Advance SP systems, using a variety of custom color shells. Other Game Boy Advance SP systems designed by SuperGusiLand on the storefront include one that has a family of Pikachus, a Mewtwo and Mew one, and even one based on the infamously rare Pikachu Van Gogh Pokemon card. The gold shell and custom art alone might be worth it for a fan to spend money on.
