Pokemon Fan Designs Mega Evolutions for Drapion, Sunflora, and Whiscash

Pokemon Fan Designs Mega Evolutions for Drapion, Sunflora, and Whiscash

A talented Pokemon fan online has created brand-new Mega Evolution concepts for Drapion, Sunflora, and Whiscash. This awesome fan concept puts a fresh spin on some classic Pokemon designs from Generations past, giving them new designs, both regular and shiny. The fan has even considered what Ability the Pokemon would have post-Mega Evolution.

Over the years, the Pokemon community has consistently shown itself to be amongst the most creative and talented fandoms on the internet. There’s almost 30 years’ worth of fan art, with fans applying their own styles and talents to put a new twist on their favorite Pokemon. Some choose to create completely new Pokemon, while others take classic designs and freshen them up a little. Some fans even bring Pokemon into their real lives in interesting ways, like the fan who gave their Kindle a Pokedex makeover. And with the franchise only continuing to grow, there’s no sign of Pokemon and its fans slowing down any time soon. With more Pokemon introduced every Generation, there’s always going to be more inspiration for fans to draw from.

The Rarest Pokemon Card is Going on Auction, and You’ll Never Guess Who Owns It

A controversial figure and noted Pokemon card collector announces he will auction off a one-of-a-kind card he once paid a record-breaking price for.

These Pokemon Concepts Show Drapion, Sunflora, and Whiscash Could Look Like as Mega Evolutions

Over on Reddit, user EliDwebster shared their Pokemon Mega Evolution concepts for the trio of Drapion, Sunflora, and Whiscash. While these Pokemon have almost nothing in common with each other, this allows EliDwebster to put a unique spin on all three of the designs. Mega Drapion’s design “emphasizes more on its Scorpion-side,” according to the artist, with huge green stingers and claws providing a pop of color in the artwork. Mega Sunflora hones in on the growth of the plant, with the soil beneath its feet now visible. To reflect this, its Mega Evolution becomes a Grass/Ground-type Pokemon, too. Mega Whiscash gives the classic Gen 3 design a more eye-catching design, with the sud bubbles on the tail being the most noticeable addition. EliDwebster also provided shiny variations for all three Mega Evolutions, which are just alternate color scheme variants of the trio.

They have even considered which Abilities each Pokemon would have after their Mega Evolution, while explaining their decisions in the comments. Mega Drapion would have Sharpness, which boosts the strength of slicing moves by 50%, explaining that “the move Cross Poison is almost a signature move for it.” They have given their Pokemon Mega Evolution concept for Sunflora the Triage ability, while Mega Whishcash could use Galvanize. This was to “put emphasis on its tanky-ness” according to the artist.

Sunflora, Whiscash, and Drapion were introduced in Generations 2, 3, and 4, respectively. As a result, all three are very old Pokemon at this point, and they are usually common subjects for Pokemon fan projects. It makes a lot of sense. While new Pokemon are fun and novel, fans have had decades to become attached to older designs at this point. This means that when fans are producing fan art, much of the time it’s centered on designs they perhaps were a fan of when playing the older Pokemon games.

Heading into 2026, it’s set to be a massive year for the Pokemon franchise. It marks the franchise’s 30th anniversary, which Pokemon recently hyped up, claiming this year is “going to be the best one yet.” However, details about what the year is going to entail are sparse. Attention naturally turns to the potential of Generation 10 releasing in 2026, which would be a great way to mark such a huge milestone for the franchise. Fans will just have to wait and see what The Pokemon Company has planned over the next 12 months, but it’s sure to be a fun ride.
