Highlights
- Fans are creatively designing new Pokemon forms like a Dark-type Emolga, gaining community attention and praise for their innovation.
- With over a thousand Pokemon, Game Freak team may not give all Pokemon new forms; fans step in to fill the gaps with their designs.
- Even neglected Pokemon like Emolga spark fan excitement with creative variants, suggesting that official updates could be on the horizon.
A Pokemon fan has given Emolga a Dark-type variant with clever inspiration and a cute design. The Pokemon fan variant has gained attention from the community, who seem to be delighting in its appearance and have suggested names for the pocket monster.
With regional variants, Paradox forms, and unique evolutions for a select set of Pokemon, fans have taken the reins in giving more the same treatment. Designing brand new forms for every Pokemon in the series would be a tremendous task that the team at Game Freak might not be able to do, given that there are already over a thousand Pokemon in the games already. The team also regularly designs brand-new Pokemon to join the fray. Outside of the select few Pokemon that get official refreshed designs or evolutions, players help to fill the gaps using their own creative abilities and imaginations.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Fan Discovers Creepy Haxorus Glitch
One Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player shares a pretty creepy and unsettling glitch they had suddenly encountered while playing the game.
Such is the case with Just-Drawing-Mons, who frequently designs alternate forms for Pokemon, and this time shared their concept for a Dark-type Emolga. In dropping its Electric/Flying-typing, Emolga has swapped its design inspiration from a flying squirrel to a vampire bat, with a strong resemblance to classic vampires like Dracula. Emolga has little fangs, a grey, white, and red color palette, and its eyes have turned red. Its silhouette has changed a bit, with Emolga’s ears becoming longer and sharper, its tail becoming more like an iconic devil’s tail, and its wings becoming much more bat-like.
In the comments, other fans shared how much they enjoyed the design, with several wishing that they could have this Dark-type Emolga on their Pokemon teams. One fan suggested that the Pokemon be named Bunnicula, while another built upon Emolga’s existing name, dubbing it Demolga. It seems that Emolga still has quite a few fans around who would like to see the neglected Pokemon get more attention, and while an official update would be nice, this fan variant seem to help satisfy that want.
Will Emolga Get Its (Official) Time to Shine?
With Emolga not having any evolutions or alternate forms despite being in the series since Gen 5, it seems like a good candidate to get an overhaul like this in an official title. Given that Emolga is far from the mightiest Pokemon around, it seems somewhat unlikely that Emolga will see a Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. However, with new games in the pipeline for Pokemon all the time, there’s always a chance that the Pokemon could get an updated form or evolution someday.
