Pokemon fan art seemingly has no end, nor lack of variety in how it’s produced. Pencil and paper or a digital canvas may be the most common method of creating fan art, but it’s far from the limit in how Pokemon fans show their affection for their favorites. Players have created art out of blocks, glass, food, and through 3D printing, all creating unique works of art that celebrate the series or individual creatures.

Pokemon Fan Creates Incredible Watercolor Paintings of Kyogre and Groudon
A talented artist and Pokemon fan creates a pair of vivid watercolor paintings depicting Legendary Pokemon Kyogre and Groudon.
Pokemon fan PokeWelder-Zach is no different, with the artist unveiling the latest of their work in a pair of bike chain sculptures of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire‘s Groudon and Kyogre. The two Legendary Pokemon look a bit more abstract given their medium, but the resemblance is nonetheless spot-on. Though the artist only supplied three images of their work, fans can easily see how the bike chains came together, with vertical columns and stacked rows making up the majority of Groudon and Kyogre, respectively. The paint job on both Pokemon completes the resemblance, with Groudon’s stripes and Kyogre’s fin markings standing out in particular.
Pokemon fans have admired the work from PokeWelder-Zach, with queries as to whether the Pokemon bike chain sculptures are available for purchase. PokeWelder-Zach does sell their work, so fans who are interested in their creations may want to take a look at their shop. Although there’s over a thousand Pokemon, there’s a good chance that many of fans’ favorites have already been made by PokeWelder-Zach, as the artist is approaching a hundred sculptures built so far. Players who prefer the third member of this trio may be in luck, as PokeWelder-Zach’s post seems to hint at Rayquaza being made in the future.
Pokemon Stirs the Imagination
Pokemon has become such an expansive media empire with many creatures, humans, and areas in it. While creating fan art of existing elements is a common sight, it seems that the ever-evolving nature of the games also inspires fans to become even more creative, dreaming up things that don’t exist in the games. Some players create works of art combining Pokemon or adding additional forms to Pokemon who lack them. In some cases like these, though, just building a known Pokemon in such an unusual way is enough to draw attention and get fans excited. It will be interesting to see what PokeWelder-Zach produces out of bike chains next.
