Highlights
- GO Fest 2024 could change Pokemon GO meta with Dusk Mane Necrozma’s Sunsteel Strike move.
- World of Wonders season had highs and lows in Pokemon GO, with changes affecting user sentiment.
- Necrozma’s moveset in Pokemon GO has surprised the community with powerful charged moves.
Niantic might well be on the way to shake up the Pokemon GO meta with GO Fest 2024, as the debut of Dusk Mane Necrozma could surpass the likes of Shadow Metagross. Shadow Metagross is considered the strongest Steel type in Pokemon GO by a significant margin, but that dominance seems to be under threat with the addition of the charged move Sunsteel Strike.
The ongoing World of Wonders season has been a mixed bag for Pokemon GO fans so far. While it definitely had its highs with events like the April Fools’ Day which was widely acclaimed by the fanbase, a series of subsequent updates led to a significant decline in user sentiment towards the game. In particular, the changes made with the Pokemon GO Avatar update are something that didn’t go down well in the community. However, it seems like Niantic is on track to reignite the interest of the playerbase with some interesting events.

Pokemon GO Players Think Popular Feature From Sword and Shield Could Be Coming
A Pokemon GO leaker alleges that a Pokemon Sword and Shield feature could be seeing a return in the mobile title soon, though there are some concerns.
The GO Fest is one of the most awaited events every year, and it’s been known for quite a while now that Necrozma will be debuting as part of the event in Pokemon GO. However, it is the moveset that has caught the community by surprise. As highlighted in a Reddit post by Pandanoko-Fan137 (via a data mine by PokeMiners), Dusk Mane Necrozma will be featuring the charged move Sunsteel Strike while Dawn Wings will have Moongeist Beam, both of which reportedly boast a whopping 230 damage.
The two forms of Necrozma can be obtained in Pokemon GO by fusing it with either Solgaleo or Lunala. To put things into perspective, it surpasses the base power of Aeroblast++, which is the highest in the game. However, that is not what makes the move as lucrative, as Lugia is only viable in certain scenarios. Instead, when Dusk Mane Necrozma is compared to the best Steel type in Pokemon GO, which is Shadow Metagross, it surpasses it quite comfortably.
In fact, its sibling, Dawn Wings Necrozma isn’t too far behind in its department as well. When stacked against the best Ghost-type, Mega Gengar, it falls just shy in stats, coming second. However, as the Redditor suggests, despite coming in second, the fact that Dawn Wings is bulkier than Mega Gengar will ensure that it might as well be the go-to Ghost-type Pokemon in Pokemon GO going forward. It should be noted that the duo is still a bit away from outperforming the likes of Rayquaza or Mewtwo, but considering their impressive stats, it doesn’t make them any less viable. While fans are already eager to try these new Pokemon out, some are already skeptical about them being banned in GO Battle League considering how powerful they are.
