Pokemon GO players only have a few hours left to get five exclusive Pokemon before they’re gone. Summer 2026 has been a long celebration of Pokemon GO due to the game’s 10th anniversary, happening right alongside the Pokemon series’ 30th anniversary. As is customary, there have been, and still are, various events for fans to engage with and maybe get some rare Pokemon, but the big weekend of September 5 through September 6 is quickly coming to a close, and some unique Pokemon will go away as a result.
Pokemon GO is no stranger to FOMO, having some exclusive events that require active participation and maybe a bit of luck to get good rewards, but the turnaround time is often short, from a week to under 24 hours in some cases. For example, Pokemon GO will debut Maschiff and Mabosstiff on September 8, but the event will only last until September 14. Instead, for those who want to get their hands on two variants of Mewtwo and the three Gen 6 starters’ Mega Evolutions, they only have around 24 hours from now.

Today, September 5, through tomorrow at 6 pm local time, September 6, Pokemon GO‘s Mega Finale event is underway, allowing fans to get their hands on Mega Mewtwo X, Mega Mewtwo Y, Armored Mewtwo, Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox, and Mega Greninja. Mega Mewtwo X is only available today, whereas Mega Mewtwo Y is only available tomorrow, September 6. Both are from Super Mega Raids, awarding a Mewtwo with a Special Background regardless of the Mega version that players fight. Armored Mewtwo in Pokemon GO can be obtained from five-star raids instead, and fans should get it if they can because it’s so rare.

Finally, Pokemon GO‘s Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox, and Mega Greninja require choosing a path from the Timed Research currently available. Fans are suggesting Mega Delphox over the other two Gen 6 starters because it does more damage. The only way to get more than one of these Pokemon was to attend the official Pokemon World Championships event in San Francisco last week, which allowed fans to choose one of the starters for its exclusive event; the one selected during the Mega Ascension and Mega Finale events could be a different one. This still limits the choice to two starters out of three, so there is currently no way to get them all.
Next week, Pokemon GO will launch Twilight Trails on September 8 alongside new Mega Evolutions, such as Mega Staraptor and Mega Chandelure, which first came out in Pokemon Legends: Z-A last year. The new season will run until December 1, 2026, and it has already confirmed its GO Pass and Major Milestones.
On top of that, Pokemon GO confirmed a Gible Community Day for September 12, giving players increased odds of finding the base form of fan-favorite Garchomp. There will be two more Community Days, one in October and one in November, but they haven’t been confirmed just yet.
