Pokemon GO has officially revealed the dates for Mega Finale, the conclusion to its annual GO Fest for 2026, scheduled to run in early September. Mega Finale will cap off a jam-packed Pokemon GO event that has introduced substantial new content to the game.
The newest iteration of the monster-catching mobile game’s annual event brought plenty of exciting additions to the game. Mega Mewtwo served as the biggest highlight of GO Fest 2026, with Pokemon GO fans able to acquire Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y for the first time. The Pokemon GO event also gave fans the chance to capture a new Mythical Pokemon, with Zeraora officially added to the game through Special Research missions. Now, Pokemon GO has one more event planned to round out GO Fest 2026, revealing the upcoming Mega Finale.
Pokemon GO Teases GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale
Pokemon GO has officially confirmed the dates for the conclusion of GO Fest 2026 with the Mega Finale weekend. Pokemon GO will host the Mega Finale event during the weekend of September 5 and 6, promising major festivities to conclude the newest edition of its annual celebration. Niantic has not revealed any featured content set to appear during the Mega Finale, though the event’s title likely suggests that it could include a new Mega Pokemon being added to the game. The event will be available globally through the app, with players able to participate in special events and catch exclusive Pokemon.

Pokemon GO‘s Mega Finale looks to follow in the footsteps of the massive Max Finale event that concluded GO Fest 2025. Max Finale put the focus on Legendary Pokemon found in the Galar region, with players able to battle both Zacian and Zamazenta in their Hero of Many Battles forms as five-star raids. Scopely also debuted special six-star Max Battles at Power Spots throughout the duration of Max Finale, increasing the team limit on Pokemon GO‘s Gigantamax Battles to 100 for players to battle against the fearsome Eternamax Eternatus.
GO Fest 2026 has served as the culmination of an already huge year for Pokemon GO, filled with major events to celebrate a pair of notable anniversaries. Pokemon GO joined in the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebrations in 2026, launching the “All Out” event in March, which allowed players able to find nearly every Pokemon in the game in the wild. Pokemon GO is celebrating its tenth anniversary as well, with the 10th Anniversary Party event in early July adding an exclusive variant of Gimmighoul, which has a unique coin on its back and a Special Background.
Pokemon GO has plenty of changes ahead for fans of the franchise as the mobile game kicks off its next decade. Scopely Vice President of Product Michael Steranka spoke about the future of Pokemon GO during a recent interview, suggesting that the company will be putting a heavier focus on the game’s community aspects. He specifically mentioned the Gym system as one area that is expected to see significant adjustments, intending to turn Gyms into a “community gathering spot” for players to meet up with one another. Pokemon GO continues to give fans plenty of reasons to go out and catch Pokemon, battle Gyms, and play the game with friends.
