Pokemon GO has officially revealed a brand-new event coming to the game in September 2026, putting Phantump in the spotlight for a Catch Mastery event. September will mark the start of the newest season of Pokemon GO with the launch of Twilight Trials.
The upcoming season for the monster-catching mobile game is bringing plenty of new content to excite fans of the game. Scopely has confirmed multiple new Pokemon set to make their Pokemon GO debut during Twilight Trials, including Maschiff, Mega Staraptor, and Mega Chandelure. The company has also confirmed the dates for the Community Days running throughout the new season, though official featured Pokemon have not been revealed yet. Fans of Pokemon GO can now pencil in another new event for September, with Scopely giving fans the chance to pick up a popular Gen 6 Pokemon.
Phantump is Getting a Pokemon GO Event in September 2026

Pokemon GO officially revealed the new Phantump Catch Mastery event, focused on the Gen 6 Ghost Pokemon. The event will feature Phantump encounters as rewards for Field Research, free Timed Research, and paid Timed Research missions, with bonus Candy granted for Nice or better catches during the event and increased chances of finding a Shiny Pokemon. Players will also be able to find Cherubi and Drifloon more frequently in the wild with similarly boosted Shiny chances, as well as in Field Research missions. Pokemon GO‘s Phantump Catch Mastery event is scheduled to run on September 26, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 8:00 p.m. local time.

The Phantump event is the newest in Pokemon GO‘s Catch Mastery series of events, encouraging players to get better with their Poke Ball throws. While timing is an important part of catching Pokemon in Pokemon GO, the game also rewards players for using Curve Balls, with players able to score as high as Excellent on their throws. The paid Timed Research missions for the event will cost players $1.99, and grants additional Phantump encounters to help players farm the bonus XP and Candy for the event.
Phantump Catch Mastery is just one of multiple new Pokemon GO events running in September. Scopely will kick off the month with the grand finale of its biggest event of the year, running the GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale during the first weekend of September. The start of Twilight Trials will bring the Mega Squads event, adding the previously mentioned Mega Chandelure and Mega Staraptor in Mega Raids. Pokemon GO has also revealed Harvest Festival as the final event of September, bringing back the annual Autumn-themed event and likely featuring increased spawns for seasonal Pokemon like Applin, Exeggcute, and Combee.
Pokemon GO looks to have plenty in store for fans of the mobile monster-catching game beyond September. The initial reveal for Twilight Trials prominently featured Zorua in one of the season’s key visuals, potentially confirming previous leaks about the Pokemon starring in October’s Community Day. Scopely also confirmed that the special Mewtwo that was featured during the New York City GO Fest 2026 event will return in the future, giving fans another chance to catch the Mewtwo with a unique Times Square background. Pokemon GO is getting ready to freshen up the game once again with its newest season, and fans should have every reason to be excited.
