Pokemon GO has announced that Armored Mewtwo will return later in 2026, giving players another chance to catch it. The Legendary is arguably one of the game’s rarest creatures because of its scarce in-game appearances over the years. It has been a big year for Mewtwo in Pokemon GO, and it seems Scopely has even more events planned for the Psychic-type.
Earlier in July, Mega Mewtwo X and Y made their long-awaited debuts during GO Fest 2026: Global through Pokemon GO‘s Super Mega Raids. Later, in August, the game rewarded all players with a free 100% IV Mewtwo to commemorate the franchise’s 30th anniversary. More recently, during its ambitious Mega Finale weekend, Pokemon GO brought back Armored Mewtwo after it had been absent since its initial 2019 release. Now, the developers have confirmed that more Mewtwo content is coming, specifically featuring its special Armored version.
Pokemon GO Confirms Armored Mewtwo Raid Day for Late 2026
Through an official teaser, Pokemon GO unveiled that Armored Mewtwo is making a comeback later in 2026. The video includes the keywords “Raid Day,” confirming an event of this kind featuring Armored Mewtwo 5-Star Raids. Pokemon GO has not shared an exact date yet, though. Considering that GO Fest: Mega Finale ended quite recently, it will potentially be a few weeks or months before more details are shared. On the other hand, Raid Days often include multiple bonuses, so players will likely enjoy exclusive rewards such as extra free Raid Passes and additional Trades per day.
Many fans reacted positively to Armored Mewtwo’s Raid Day reveal, and some are theorizing that Pokemon GO will finally release the costumed Legendary’s shiny variant. Other fans were sceptical of the trailer, arguing that the game had teased a similar comeback for Eternatus after GO Fest: Max Finale in 2025, but the Pokemon never reappeared in an event. It also remains to be seen whether Armored Mewtwo will be joined by Mega Mewtwo X and Y as well, since these are also some of Pokemon GO‘s rarest creatures.

More Pokemon debuts are expected to happen in the coming months, such as Mega Chandelure.
