Pokemon has officially revealed a brand-new special release to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary, teaming up with Fender to debut Pokemon Red- and Green-themed guitars. The new Pokemon release is one of a variety of products commemorating the iconic franchise’s anniversary.
The anniversary celebration for the beloved monster-catching series has welcomed a wealth of new releases across the entire series. Pokemon has launched plenty of special products as part of the 30th anniversary, including an exclusive Pokemon apparel line at Target, a Game Boy music player featuring classic Pokemon tracks, and Pokemon Goldfish and Pop-Tarts. The Pokemon Trading Card Game launched the 30th Celebration expansion in September, bringing reprints of iconic cards from the game’s history, and Pokemon GO has run plenty of events centered around the anniversary. Now, Pokemon is teaming up with guitar manufacturer Fender for a pair of stunning Pokemon guitars.
Pokemon is Teaming Up With Fender
Pokemon officially revealed a pair of Fender guitars themed around the original games via the franchise’s social media. A video accompanying announcement shows off the breathtaking guitars, each with translucent shells and artwork from the original Pokemon Red and Green on the body. The Pokemon guitars also include a special “time-warping toggle” that changes the sound of the guitar, mimicking the 8-bit sounds used on the original Game Boy. The Pokemon-themed guitars are scheduled to be released sometime in 2027, with pre-orders planned to be made available on the official Pokemon Center website in the near future.
The Pokemon guitars serve as another example of the franchise teaming up with major brands to commemorate its anniversary. Adidas teamed up with The Pokemon Company to debut a line of Pokemon-themed shoes and leather jackets, including designs of Pikachu, Mewtwo, the Charmander evolution line, and more. McDonald’s Japan also introduced a new expansion to its Pokemon collaboration in July 2026, releasing special burgers themed around the original starter Pokemon.
Pokemon has given fans plenty of reasons to be excited about the 30th anniversary of the franchise. Game Freak officially rereleased Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen on Nintendo Switch for the first time in February, with rumors suggesting that Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald will be coming later in the year. Pokemon Pokopia also debuted in March 2026 as a life-simulation spin-off of the monster-catching franchise, quickly becoming one of the fastest-selling games on the Nintendo Switch 2 and the highest-rated Pokemon game in franchise history. However, Pokemon‘s biggest announcement was easily the confirmation of the next generation of main-series games.
The Pokemon Company officially revealed the franchise’s 10th generation during the 2026 Pokemon Day presentation. Pokemon Winds and Waves will whisk players to a tropical region said to be based on Southeast Asia, with several islands to explore and even some underwater areas. Game Freak also revealed the three starter Pokemon available in Winds and Waves, showing off the Grass-type Growt, the Fire-type Pombon, and the Water-type Gecqua. Pokemon looks to have big things in store for fans as the franchise carries on with its 30th anniversary celebration.
