Pokémon Pokopia’s creation tools are elaborate and folks are using them to build some crazy town infrastructure. The whole point of the game is to rebuild society after an apocalyptic event. That means becoming the architect of new homes. But sometimes you don’t want something new. Sometimes you want to rebuild something exactly the way it was. That’s what some Pokopia players are doing right now as they try to recreate a nearly pixel perfect version of the Kanto region from the original Pokémon Red and Blue games.
Twitch streamer Quenca is using Pokopia’s “Palette Town” free creation area to create as close to a 1:1 recreation of the old Game Boy-era Pokémon region as they can. The game’s simplistic artstyle lends itself to it, as the game has assets that are pretty comparable to the Gen 1 games.
On avance petit à petit le Kanto dans Pokémon Pokopia ! On a même attaqué Jadielle ! #Kantopia
Bon par contre les calculs n’étaient pas bons, impossible de refaire en 1:1 donc on va adapter certaines routes pour gagner de la place ! pic.twitter.com/Cf2QXRNhQw— Quenca (@Quenca) March 15, 2026
You can create patches of grass like the tall grass you walk through to find wild Pokémon, Pokémon Centers and Pokémarts are buildable structures, and if there are any other buildings you need, you can create them by hand. Thus far, the “Kantopia” project has built up to Viridian City, but it may run into some trouble as it hits Pokopia’s hard 40 building limit.
A lot of folks are using Pokopia’s building tools to create landmarks and structures from other Pokémon games, both from the mainline RPGs and spin-offs. Some standouts include buildings from the Mystery Dungeon series and the Prism Tower from Pokémon X and Y, but I’m still waiting for someone to make Spear Pillar from Diamond and Pearl. And no, I will not be going mad out of jealousy of these cool things people are making because I have freed myself from the debilitating weight of envy.
