Pokemon Pokopia Fans Should Circle August 21 on Their Calendars

The Pokemon Company stated that August 21 would be a big day for Pokemon Pokopia fans and teased that a special announcement related to the hit game would take place on that day. Pokemon Pokopia is one of the top-rated Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games of the console’s lifespan so far.

The news came just a few days after Pokemon Pokopia celebrated a major milestone. Over five months into the game’s life, Nintendo revealed that Pokemon Pokopia sold over five million units worldwide. The figure covered both the physical and digital versions of Pokemon Pokopia, though Nintendo did not elaborate on which medium made up the majority of the game’s sales so far. By comparison, over 23 million Switch 2 consoles have been sold worldwide as of June 30.

Following the launch of Pokemon Pokopia‘s Bubbly Basin DLC, The Pokemon Company said that fans will have even more news to look forward to in the coming days. The Pokemon Company announced that the 2026 Pokemon World Championships Preview Show will contain a special Pokemon Pokopia announcement that ties into the PokemonXP event at the Moscone Center in San Francisco alongside this year’s Pokemon World Championships. The Pokemon Worlds Preview Show will air on Friday, August 21, at 4:00 PM eastern on the official Pokemon Twitch channel and the Play! Pokemon YouTube channel. However, Pokemon‘s announcement did not yield further details, so fans must wait for more information. As for the 2026 Pokemon World Championships, this year’s competition kicks off the following Friday, August 28, and lasts through Sunday, August 30.

It was previously revealed that a panel on Pokemon Pokopia‘s development will take place at PokemonXP. The Pokemon Pokopia spotlight panel will last one hour and will be streamed on Friday, August 28, at 2:30 PM. The panel’s guests are Pokopia senior director Shigeru Ohmori, producer Kanako Murata, and chief director Takuto Edagawa. Whether the August 21 announcement at the Preview Show concerns the aforementioned panel or another piece of Pokemon Pokopia content altogether remains unclear.

Pokemon Pokopia‘s Bubbly Basin DLC is the first of three expansions included in the game’s Expansion Pass. While Pokemon has not revealed the names of the other two expansions, the second Pokemon Pokopia DLC is said to include new outfits and some quality of life changes rather than a new town. Set to arrive later in 2026, Pokemon Pokopia‘s second expansion will allow players to dress up the Pokemon that they have befriended, including Peakychu. Though Pokemon Pokopia has kept a tight lid on what will be included in the game’s third expansion, The Pokemon Company stated that it would arrive sometime in 2027.

By collecting Prism Scales scattered throughout Dream Islands, players can also earn some new decorations for their homes. The Feebas event in Pokemon Pokopia is currently ongoing until Friday, August 28, at 5:00 AM local time. Additionally, access to the Bubbly Basin expansion is not required for participation.
