Pokemon TCG Live Making Big Changes in Upcoming April 2026 Update

Pokemon TCG Live is making some huge changes to the game with its April 2026 update, launching on April 21. The patch will push big improvements to Pokemon TCG Live‘s deck editor, fix crucial bugs with card selection, and more.

The online version of the massively popular monster-catching TCG has given players plenty of reasons to jump into the digital game. The Pokemon Company gave out an assortment of eight free decks in Pokemon TCG Live to celebrate the release of Perfect Order, including powerful meta-relevant decks like Dragapult ex and Mega Lucario ex. The game has also gifted players with plenty of redemption codes, including multiple free packs from the Pokemon TCG‘s newest sets. Now, Pokemon TCG Live is making some major quality-of-life fixes to the game with its April update.

Pokemon TCG Live is Giving Away More Free Packs and Full-Art Cards

Pokemon TCG Live releases a brand-new code for the digital trading card game, rewarding players with free packs and stunning full-art cards.

Version 1.37 Update for Pokemon TCG Live Releases on April 21

Pokemon TCG Live officially revealed the patch notes for its upcoming Version 1.37.0 update on April 16. The new update will implement major fixes to the game’s Deck Editor, allowing players to swap in different versions of cards when importing Pokemon TCG decks. The Deck Editor is getting a major overhaul on the desktop version as well, shifting the UI to a full-screen deck view within the app for easier deck checking. Pokemon TCG Live is also enhancing its support for players on iOS and Android tablets, with some larger devices now able to run the landscape desktop version of the app. Pokemon TCG Live‘s Version 1.37.0 update will go live on April 21.

The newest TCG Live update also aims to fix some of the game’s most longstanding bugs. Pokemon TCG Live will address one of the game’s most prominent bugs, which sometimes prevented players from selecting legal options when searching their deck with cards like Ultra Ball. Multiple individual cards are also seeing fixes within the patch, including Mega Skarmory ex, which unintentionally shuffled attached Tools into the deck, and Naveen, which forced players with exactly three other cards in hand to discard all their cards. One of the game’s new starter decks also saw a minor fix, with the Dragapult ex deck incorrectly containing four copies of Caretaker instead of Buddy-Buddy Poffin.

Pokemon TCG Live‘s assortment of bug fixes looks to better position the game as the premier destination for competitive players to test their skills. The digital version gives players the chance to test cards from new Pokemon TCG expansions before they become tournament-legal, with physical cards only becoming eligible for tournament play two weeks after the set’s release. TCG Live also makes it easy for players to build and test decks, rewarding fans with a multitude of packs, Trainer Points, and Credits through the battle pass.

The rest of 2026 should give fans even more reason to jump onto the online TCG, with a plethora of exciting Pokemon sets on the way. Chaos Rising is set to launch as the next major set for the Pokemon TCG on May 22, bringing multiple popular Mega Pokemon to the game with Mega Greninja ex and Mega Floette ex. The Pokemon Company also confirmed a special expansion celebrating the franchise’s 30th anniversary, with Pokemon‘s 30th Celebration set planned to release in September in Japan. Pokemon fans should have plenty to look forward to throughout the rest of the year, with lots on the way from the Pokemon TCG.

Content & Updates

Featured

  • New deck import options and other Deck Editor improvements have been added to make building and editing decks faster, clearer, and more intuitive!

    • Deck importing can automatically swap in cards and variants you already own, so you can go from a deck list to a playable deck faster.
    • Desktop clients now include a full-screen deck view and clearer deck validation, making it easier to review your list and fix issues quickly.
    • Editing is smoother overall with improved Big Card View, better variant sorting, and clearer visibility for unowned and invalid cards.
  • Improved support for tablets! Android and iOS tablets with large enough screens and enough usable RAM will now support the desktop landscape mode by default.
  • New Learning Lab lessons added:

Bug Fixes

Gameplay/Battle

  • Fixed an issue that occasionally prevented valid cards from being selectable during a search action.

Cards

  • Fixed an issue where Mega Skarmory ex’s (POR #055) Sonic Ripper attack shuffled all attached cards into the deck instead of shuffling only the attached Energy.
  • Fixed an issue where letting the action timer run out while using Shaymin’s (POR #003) Send Flowers attack could cause a long delay and missing controls before the Energy was attached automatically.
  • Fixed an issue where Decidueye ex’s (POR #012) Sniper’s Eye Ability would not be consistently applied to its attack costs if the opponent had used an attack from a Technical Machine on the previous turn.
  • Fixed an issue where playing Naveen (POR #079) with exactly three other cards in hand could automatically discard those cards instead of letting the player choose what to discard.
  • Fixed an issue where Kingdra’s (PAR #032) Whirltide attack could leave the player unable to continue their turn until the action timer ran out if no Energy cards were revealed.
  • Fixed an issue where Turtonator’s (POR #017) Shell Spikes Ability would not consistently discard Energy from the Attacking Pokémon if that Energy was attached as part of the attack’s effect.
  • Fixed an issue where Mimikyu’s (GRI #58) Copycat attack did not copy the Geobuster attack from the Pokémon Tool card Core Memory (POR #070) after an opponent’s Mega Zygarde ex (POR #047) used that attack on the previous turn.

General

  • Fixed an issue where the new Dragapult ex starter deck incorrectly contained 4 Caretaker (TWM #144) instead of 4 Buddy-Buddy Poffin (TEF #144).

    • This fix is not retroactive. Players who already claimed this deck can update their deck list manually using the Buddy-Buddy Poffin cards received as part of several other new starter decks introduced in Version 1.36.0.
  • Fixed an issue where the game could get stuck loading the main menu, causing buttons and controls to stop responding.
  • Fixed an issue where the Variant Drawer could fail to show all available variants after the player switches to another card in Big Card View.
  • Various other fixes and polish.
