The Pokemon TCG has officially revealed three brand-new promo cards players will be able to pick up from Chaos Rising. The trio of special cards will only be available at select retailers as a bonus for purchasing Pokemon TCG product.

The newest set coming to the monster-catching franchise’s TCG branch contains plenty of exciting cards within the expansion. Chaos Rising features the Pokemon TCG debut of Mega Greninja ex as the cover Pokemon, while adding other Mega Evolutions, such as Mega Dragalge and Mega Floette. The expansion will add new Trainers from Pokemon Legends: Z-A, like Emma and Philippe, alongside the return of one past Gym Leader in Roxie’s Performance. The Pokemon Company is now showing off a selection of exclusive promo Pokemon cards that players can only add to their collection by visiting specific retail locations.

The release of Chaos Rising will include retailer-exclusive promo cards for Ho-Oh, Keldeo, and Delphox at different stores. A promo version of the Ho-Oh card in Chaos Rising is set to be available exclusively at GameStop stores in the US and EB Games in Canada and Australia, boasting a GameStop stamp on the artwork. The Keldeo promo card will reportedly be exclusive to US-based locations, available at Hot Topic, Barnes & Noble, and BoxLunch. The Delphox promo is set to skip Canadian retailers entirely, with the Fire starter Pokemon available at Best Buy in the US, Mr. Toys and ToyMate in Australia, and JB Hi-Fi in New Zealand. The promo cards will be included as a gift with purchases of $15 or more in Pokemon products.

The mix of Pokemon TCG promos includes some cards that could see competitive play following Chaos Rising’s release. Ho-Oh features a powerful recursion ability attached to its first Attack, with Flames of Revival letting players bring back up to three Pokemon from their Discard Pile. Delphox is expected to be played in several Pokemon TCG decks, letting players discard a Fire Energy to draw up to seven cards. While Keldeo isn’t expected to be as competitively viable, each card will likely be highly sought-after for its exclusivity to specific retailers.

The Pokemon TCG‘s Chaos Rising set looks to bring plenty to the table for competitive players and collectors alike. The expansion will include one new Mega Hyper Rare card for fans to pull, with a dazzling all-gold version of Mega Greninja ex in the set. Chaos Rising is believed to contain six different Special Illustration Rare cards, including three new Mega Pokemon, Cinccino ex, and two Supporters with AZ’s Tranquility and Roxie’s Performance. The expansion will also add the powerful Special Red Card Item, forcing the opponent to shuffle their hand into the deck and draw three new cards.

The Pokemon TCG looks to have lots more on the way beyond the release of Chaos Rising. The Pokemon Company has already revealed Pitch Black as its next major set, welcoming the debut of Mega Darkrai ex with its release in July. Pokemon‘s 30th anniversary will also bring a unique new expansion for the trading card game, with the upcoming 30th Celebration set confirmed to be reprinting some of the most iconic cards from Pokemon TCG history. Fans should be excited about what’s to come for the Pokemon TCG, with a multitude of major sets debuting in 2026.
