Pokemon Pokopia is the highest-rated game in Pokemon history and, until very recently, it was also the highest-rated new game release of 2026. Pokemon Pokopia has earned rave reviews from fans and critics alike, with a great deal of praise for its brilliant combination of cozy game mechanics and the world of Pokemon.
Pokemon Pokopia reviews have been largely glowing, and so it’s no surprise that it managed to become the highest-rated new game of 2026 upon its launch. Pokopia reviews were strong enough, in fact, that it managed to knock Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem from the top spot with a 90 overall rating versus RE‘s 89. However, Pokopia‘s reign as the highest-rated game of 2026 was relatively short-lived, as it has now been overtaken by a brand-new release.

OPUS: Prism Peak is Now the Highest-Rated Game of 2026
The recently-released Steam game OPUS: Prism Peak has secured an impressive 91 overall rating on review aggregate site OpenCritic, barely edging out Pokopia and becoming the highest-rated new game of 2026. OPUS: Prism Peak has flown under the radar somewhat, so for those unfamiliar with the game, it’s a narrative-driven adventure game where players take on the role of a photographer traveling through a place called the Dusklands with a girl who has lost her memories. Players travel with the girl, snapping photos of various objects, unlocking upgrades for their camera, collecting notes, and interacting with spirits. The game utilizes a striking anime-inspired art style and has been as well-received by Steam users as it has professional critics, with a “Very Positive” overall rating at the time of this writing.
However, OPUS: Prism Peak‘s 91 overall rating comes with an asterisk attached. To date, the game has only logged 16 reviews from professional critics, which could be playing a big role in why its score is so high. By comparison, Pokopia has logged 99 reviews. It’s entirely possible that, as more scores are added, OPUS: Prism Peak‘s overall rating will dip. Of course, the opposite could be true as well, and the game may put even more distance between itself and Pokopia.
OPUS: Prism Peak and Pokopia aren’t the only games in the 90+ club for 2026 so far. Lost and Found Co. has also secured a 90 overall rating, though, like OPUS: Prism Peak, it has only logged 16 reviews so far. The other games that make up the top 10 are in the 80s, with Resident Evil Requiem, Mewgenics, and Hermit and Pig at 89, Esoteric Ebb at 88, and Rhell: Warped Worlds & Trouble Times and Pragmata at 87. Finally, there’s Tombwater, which has an 86.
The 10 Highest-Rated Games of 2026 (So Far)
