Porsche Responds to Resident Evil Requiem Fans Who Think Leon Will Destroy His Car

Porsche has issued a light-hearted response after fans joked that Leon will almost certainly destroy his very expensive car in Capcom’s newest survival horror title, Resident Evil Requiem. While fans may be worried about Leon’s car in Resident Evil Requiem, Porsche has a little more faith that the hero will keep his vehicle intact throughout his latest adventure.

A recent collaboration revealed that throughout Resident Evil Requiem‘s story, Leon will drive a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT. Fans were quick to point out that this vehicle is almost certainly doomed to destruction at some point, with multiple YouTube comments joking about its chances of survival. “Leon definitely crashing that Porsche straight through the RPD building,” one fan said, while another claimed, “That Porsche is lasting less time with Leon than all the zombies combined.” Their claims aren’t unfounded – previous Resident Evil games where Leon has appeared have often shown the popular protagonist involved in vehicular mishaps, giving him quite the reputation of being unfortunate behind the wheel. There’s an obvious irony in putting him in the driver’s seat of an expensive Porsche, but the company itself isn’t worried about Leon’s odds of keeping the car safe throughout Resident Evil Requiem.

Resident Evil Requiem Amiibo Pricing and Release Date Revealed

Alongside Resident Evil Requiem’s launch, the price and release date for the game’s Nintendo Switch 2 Grace and Leon Amiibo are revealed.

Porsche Says ‘We Trust Leon’ in Response to Resident Evil Requiem Fans

Following fan comments on the last Resident Evil Requiem x Porsche trailer, the car company has released a light-hearted follow-up video. It features a live-action version of Leon, portrayed by cosplayer Lacey James, attempting to get to grips with his custom Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT. Throughout the trailer, Leon takes advice on driving techniques by none other than former Porsche racing driver Patrick Long. It seems as though Leon finally gets the hang of his flashy car, and it ends with a definitive message: “We trust Leon.” Whether the Resident Evil protagonist can actually keep his car in one piece remains to be seen, but for now, he has the Porsche seal of approval.

By owning a Porsche, Leon Kennedy becomes the latest video game character to get behind the wheel of a vehicle from the famous German car manufacturer. Gamers who cast their minds back a few years might remember Johnny Silverhand’s Porsche 911 II (930) Turbo in Cyberpunk 2077, while Porsche is also set to feature in Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. The iconic brand has appeared fairly frequently in non-racing games over the years.

Resident Evil Requiem has been released to rave reviews, offering another top-tier survival horror experience in the long-running franchise. The game is already a massive hit on Steam, enjoying huge concurrent player counts upon launch. It is the ninth mainline game in the Resident Evil series, balancing first and third-person elements to deliver one of the best titles in the franchise to date. Ever since its announcement, gamers have been excited about the prospect of finally playing as Leon again. The legendary protagonist is finally back, and Capcom hasn’t disappointed.

Beyond Requiem, plans for the Resident Evil franchise over the next three years recently leaked online. Those plans indicate that the next mainline game in the series is scheduled for 2029, with several remakes also in the works between now and then. As always, leaks should be taken with a pinch of salt, but if they’re true, then Resident Evil fans are in for an excellent few years.
