A purported clip of Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay has found its way online, convincing many fans that it is a legit segment of gameplay (if perhaps a bit dated). On the one hand, any leaks feel unlikely given how close to the chest both Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have kept GTA 6‘s gameplay; on the other hand, the footage is rather convincing as an early build.
Throughout the clip, the environments, locations, and actions are relatively consistent—meaning it appears to be free of any telltale signs of generative AI. That doesn’t mean it is faked elsewhere, but the general consensus among Reddit fans is that this one might be legit. If so, it interestingly takes place not long before GTA 6‘s Extended Look on Netflix on August 27, 2026, at 12 PM PT/3 PM ET. Whether it’s coincidental or unrelated, it’s interesting timing nonetheless.
GTA 6 Gameplay Clip Shows Jason Duval Playing Basketball at Home
In the 1-minute gameplay clip, a video appears to show Jason leaning against the boards on his porch before walking to a nearby railing and jumping off. From there, he moves to find a basketball and shoots a basket. It’s not much, but given that Rockstar itself hasn’t shown 1-minute of GTA 6 gameplay (perhaps at the Netflix Extended Look), it’s something. It’s also relatively solid and convincing, although nothing has been confirmed as of this writing. The animations and movements are a bit stiff, while the general UI appears to be rather lackluster, but none of that would be surprising if this were an older build.
The QR code in the video, from leaker Cyberleek, appears to take players to a portion of the GTA 6 map. This could remain a hoax, but if so, it’s quite extensive. It is not advisable to visit the website through the QR code as it may also be a scam.
Find the odd one out before the timer hits zero.
GTA 6 gameplay leaked once before, long ago, in one of the earliest builds possible of the game. It has likely come a long way since then and gone through several builds, so it would not be surprising if this was one of them. Of course, it would not be surprising if this was proven fake soon, but with so little to go on and so little against it, it’s hard to say whether this is a true depiction of GTA 6 protagonist Jason Duval or not.
It’s also worth mentioning that fans can see his face once, very briefly, and it doesn’t necessarily look like him. However, that could be due to the quickness of the video or the customization options already confirmed to be in GTA 6. Unless something else comes of this leak, fans shouldn’t expect Rockstar or Take-Two to say much publicly about the clip. It will be interesting to see how long it remains online and if it does, as Take-Two is unlikely to play around with GTA 6. Take-Two has forecasted massive earnings because of GTA 6, and the company is obviously going to protect its IP.

possible.
Luckily, fans at least have a date: August 27. The GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look is a real, legit, official thing in this world of fake AI-generated nonsense, so it’ll make everything clear then if the companies do not beforehand.
