PS Plus Extra and Premium Games Revealed for May 2026, Includes 10/10 Open-World Game

PlayStation Plus confirms the 8 monthly games coming to the Extra and Premium tiers for May 2026, which also includes the PS Plus Extra re-release of Red Dead Redemption 2. Almost certainly, this re-release is intended to capitalize on upcoming news of Grand Theft Auto 6, but for anyone who has yet to play the 10/10 open-world game, it’s definitely worth checking out.

The PS Plus games, listed below, will arrive on the service on May 19. Ahead of then and thereafter, the PS Plus free games for May 2026 are still available (The Essential Tier): EA Sports FC 26, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and Nine Sols. Fans sure be sure to grab those as they will expire in June, but otherwise, the upcoming games will be available for quite a bit longer.

Open-World PS Plus Extra Game Gets a Bonus Freebie for May 2026

PS Plus Extra subscribers may want to download (or revisit) one of the games in the catalog as a free, massive update launched for it in May.

Even if we remove Red Dead 2, I’d wager this is one of the best PS Plus Extra game line-ups all year. Generally speaking, PS Plus Extra is the best tier of the service, but this is proving it hands-down. Of course, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a big deal in and of itself, but Star Wars Outlaws is worth a playthrough if someone hasn’t before and get it through the service. Meanwhile, Bramble and The Thaumaturge are fantastic indie/small-scale games, Broken Sword is an enhanced version of a classic, Enotria is a unique Soulslike game, and Flintlock is a unique take on the Soulslike genre.

Time Crisis was previously confirmed as the PS Plus Premium game for the month, so that’s really no surprise. Anyone who hasn’t heard of it simply needs to know that it’s an on-rails first-person shooter that used a PS1 light gun. That’s obviously being reworked for its PS Plus release, but it’ll be interesting to see how that works with the PS5 DualSense controller’s gyroscopic aiming.

Overall, May seems pretty par for the course of PS Plus releases in recent months, and while it would be nice to see more attention paid to PS Plus Premium, PS Plus Extra really is the top dog of the service. Or should I say horse because Red Dead? Either way, super solid month well worth every download.
