PS Plus Extra Games For February 2026 Just Saved the Day, But They Shouldn’t Have Had To

PS Plus Extra Games For February 2026 Just Saved the Day, But They Shouldn’t Have Had To

While PlayStation Plus has had several impressive months over the years, it’s hard to argue against the idea that it’s been a bit all over the place as of late. Both the January and February 2026 PS Plus Essential games missed the mark for a lot of players. Either the genres focused upon were a bit too niche, like the jet-centric Ace Combat 7 and the family-friendly Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, or the games were critically panned, like the boxing title Undisputed. This rocky start to the year for Essential subscribers only becomes more frustrating when coupled with the consistently disappointing PS Plus Premium, creating a rough era for the service overall where Extra is regularly left to be PS Plus’ saving grace.

While PS Plus has struggled to keep its default tier appealing as of late, and PS Plus Premium additions have been few and far between for over six months now, Extra consistently earns its subscribers’ support via top-notch additions each and every month. Even when the other two tiers slip up, PS Plus Extra is there to catch them when they fall, as there are at least two high-profile games dropped on Extra monthly. These additions come alongside a variety of indies, ensuring that those looking for some deep cuts regularly have the chance to uncover potential gems. As always, PlayStation Plus Extra seems poised to deliver with its February 2026 lineup, but there comes a point where one has to wonder when the other tiers will finally take some weight off its shoulders.

PS Plus Extra costs $15 a month and $135 a year. Comparatively, Essential costs $10 a month and $80 a year, while PS Plus Premium’s price tag comes in at $18 monthly and $160 annually.

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  • Neva
  • Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown
  • Monster Hunter Stories
  • Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin
  • Season: A Letter to the Future
  • Venba
  • Rugby 25
  • Echoes of the End: Enhanced Edition

The headliner for PlayStation Plus Extra this month is obviously Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and it can’t be understated how significant this addition is. Not only is it a stellar game that takes full advantage of the PS5’s technology to offer thrilling webswinging, two unique heroes with distinct powers, and a beautiful version of New York City, but with this addition, the entire Marvel’s Spider-Man series is playable through PS Plus Extra. Superhero lovers can prep for Marvel’s Wolverine by playing all of Insomniac’s other Marvel games, taking in the top-notch side content, unlocking the many gorgeous suits, and building the biggest combos they can. Getting a GOTY nominee and a major exclusive that’s just a few years old is a huge win for PS Plus Extra, and it further cements Extra as consistently great value for money.

Beyond Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Neva and Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown are also coming to Extra in February. The former is a gorgeous puzzle-platformer from the developers of the equally beautiful Gris, spinning an emotional tale about a woman and her wolf as they traverse a dying world. With an 87 on Metacritic (just three points below Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s 90), PS Plus Extra subscribers are getting two celebrated stories to play through in February. As for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, it trades critical acclaim for online gameplay and a breathtaking open-world for players to race through. It won’t be for everyone given its tedious progression and a fairly bland vehicle lineup, but despite its mixed reviews, its focus on multiplayer should provide some variety alongside these two singleplayer heavy hitters.

Adding to this sense of variety are the remaining PS Plus Extra games for February 2026, which span a range of genres. The turn-based Monster Hunter Stories and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin put a cutesy spin on Capcom’s creature-filled series, Season: A Letter to the Future tells an atmospheric story, Venba is all about cooking, and Echoes of the End: Enhanced Edition is a third-person adventure game with fun mage combat. If that wasn’t enough, there’s also Rugby 25 for sports enjoyers, giving everyone something to look forward to this month. And though all of these newly announced PS Plus titles should keep players busy, the one-two punch of the expensive blockbuster Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and charming, story-driven adventure Neva are a combination fitting of Extra’s lofty reputation.

While it’s great that PS Plus Extra is about to deliver another stellar lineup of games to its subscribers, turning February around for the service, it’s frustrating that it needs to keep playing the hero to begin with. Premium subscribers are constantly left scratching their heads and wondering why they’re getting so little despite paying the most, especially when there are still so many beloved PlayStation games that deserve a place in the Classics Catalog (Wall-E is the only game being added to the Classics catalog in February, and feels like an odd choice). Then there are Essential users, who have not only gone without a properly exciting month for a while now, but are also waiting for the other shoe to drop when it comes to PS Plus putting an end to PS4 additions. While PS Plus Extra is undoubtedly good, it’s time for the other tiers to stop leeching off its success and become equally attractive options.
