The PlayStation Plus library has expanded with three more titles, including one of Sony’s best-selling first-party games of all time: Horizon Forbidden West. The trio marks the second PS Plus catalog expansion in October 2026, with several more content drops scheduled before month’s end.

Sony ended a four-year pattern of doing one large game catalog update per month back in June 2026. Since then, PS Plus Extra and Premium games are being released in smaller batches, thus bringing something new to the on-demand library every roughly every week on average. This time around, the staggered monthly rollout kicked off with the critically acclaimed and effortlessly uncanny adventure The Midnight Walk joining PS Plus on October 15. Inspired by everything from dark fairy tales to the most macabre corners of David Lynch’s repertoire, the 2025 release is among the more acclaimed games Sony has ever used to anchor its thematically appropriate PS Plus updates in the pre-Halloween period.

Latest PlayStation Plus Wave Features $115 Worth of Titles

It’s a Perfectly Balanced Lineup as Well: 1 Indie + 1 AA + 1 AAA Game

  • Horizon Forbidden West [PS4, PS5]
    • Returning title; originally available from February 2023 to September 2024.
  • Mafia: The Old Country [PS5]
  • Mycopunk [PS5]

Five days later, the second monthly wave of PS Plus games officially arrived on October 20, with the rollout beginning between early morning and noon local time all across the world. In the U.S., East Coast subscribers started getting access to the new games around 10 a.m. ET. Time zone differences aside, the October 2026 Wave 2 lineup is the same everywhere, comprising Horizon Forbidden West, Mafia: The Old Country, and Mycopunk, a hectic looter shooter joining the PS Plus catalog on the same day it exits early access.

*Mafia: The Old Country is currently 40% off ($29.99) as part of an October 7-22 PS Store sale.

Horizon Forbidden West also stands out from the other two for being the only returning title from the October 20 wave. Sony originally brought it to PS Plus Extra and Premium users in late February 2023, less than a week after its first anniversary. The Horizon sequel then left the service in September 2024.

After 8 Years, PS Plus Finally Comes Full Circle With Mafia

The Old Country‘s arrival means every Mafia game has now been represented on PS Plus in some form, albeit not through every original release. The 2002 title that started it all never made its way to Sony’s service because it predates it by nearly a decade, but its remake did more than 20 years later, when Mafia: Definitive Edition debuted on PS Plus in February 2023. Likewise, the original PS3 version of Mafia 2 was only offered to European subscribers for a brief three-month window ending October 2013, 10 years and one month before Mafia 2: Definitive Edition joined the PS Plus U.S. catalog. Mafia 3 was the first series entry to appear on the service, having done so as one of its monthly games for August 2018. Back then, there were no multiple tiers to choose from and the sole one that existed only had monthly games to claim rather than maintaining a rotating catalog à la a lite version of Xbox Game Pass.

On that note, the availability window for the latest claimable Essential games is already about halfway over, with subscribers across all three tiers having until November 2 take advantage of it. Like the second wave of the month’s Extra and Premium additions, the October 2026 PS Plus Essential lineup consists of three games: F1 25, Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, and Hunt: Showdown 1896.
