PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to claim three new monthly games beginning in May, with the headlining game being EA Sports FC 26. The good news for non-sports game fans is that it’s accompanied by a solid Soulslike game and a charming 2D action-platformer. It seems very clear that the PS Plus free games for May 2026 are focused on servicing three separate niches.
The PS Plus monthly games for May will be available on Wednesday, May 5, following the removal of the current slate of PS Plus games (available until May 4). Subscribers have until then to download Lords of the Fallen, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, and Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream to their digital game libraries at no additional cost. Coming May 5, of course, are the three new games.

The PS Plus monthly games for May are EA Sports FC26, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and Nine Sols. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is only available for PS Plus subscribers on PS5, but the other two games will also be available for PS4 owners. The headlining game is the latest entry in the formerly FIFA franchise, which was released in September 2025. Fans generally know what to expect: a variety of game modes, a new Rivals and Champs experience, 20K+ players, 750+ clubs and national teams, 120+ stadiums, 35+ leagues, and so forth. PS Plus subscribers can also claim the “EA Sports FC26 PlayStation Plus Icons Pack” throughout May.
Joining it is Wuchang: Fallen Feathers and Nine Sols, the former of which saw its development team recently disbanded before the IP was acquired by Digital Bros. In it, players experience the final years of China’s Ming Dynasty as protagonist pirate warrior Wuchang. True to the genre, Wuchang boasts various fighting styles, hidden weapons, ancient firearms, powerful skills, and its titular mechanic: the power of Feathering.
Meanwhile, Nine Sols is a Sekiro-inspired action-platformer that focuses on deflection-based combat while players set out as a vengeful hero to slay the 9 Sols, the main antagonists. These Sols are not easy either. Considered more of a Soulsvania, Nine Sols definitely features some of the hardest boss fights in the wider Metroidvania genre, so fans are being seriously challenged in May.

Overall, it’s a solid line-up for the essential tier, but subscribers know these are often little treats and not the main course. Fans will learn more about the Monthly games later this month, on May 13, when PlayStation reveals the PS Plus Extra and Premium games.
