A leaker has claimed Kingdom Come: Deliverance‘s rumored PlayStation 5 upgrade will arrive sometime in February 2026. Despite coming out over seven years ago, the beloved RPG has yet to get a native current-gen version, although fans have speculated about such an update for a while now. The PS5 edition of KCD may still lack official confirmation, but signs seem to point to good news coming soon.
Warhorse Studios has had a big year. While Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 lost all three of its Game Awards nominations to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, it was still one of the most popular and well-received games of 2025. Its predecessor holds an equally fond place in many fans’ hearts, although it didn’t receive the same level of attention, but that could change in the new year. Now that Warhorse has wrapped up on KCD2, it’s unclear what exactly is next for the studio, but a modernized version of the first Kingdom Come game could very well be in the cards.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance Could Get a PS5 Version in February 2026
Back in 2024, a Redditor by the name of bertik11 claimed Kingdom Come: Deliverance would get a current-gen version in early 2026, and now they’ve come back to offer more insight into the rumor. While the leaker initially offered a January to April release window for the PS5 edition, they’ve now narrowed that down to February, but they’ve also warned fans not to expect too much. According to bertik11, the “remaster” is essentially a port of the PC version of the game. If that’s the case, the PS5 edition of KCD wouldn’t offer major graphical improvements, but it would likely support framerates up to 60FPS and come a few texture and sound quality upgrades that have since been released as DLC for the PC version.
A February 2026 release window would make sense for a new version of the game, as Kingdom Come: Deliverance turns eight years old that month. The leaker also suggested that Warhorse Studios may shadowdrop the upgrade, responding to other users in the comments that the studio has been targeting a February release for several months now but made no announcement, which could mean it’s planning on a surprise launch. It’s worth noting that Warhorse itself has teased the KCD PS5 upgrade by responding to a tweet about the rumored port with the eye emoji. While that doesn’t necessarily mean a current-gen update is imminent, it seems awfully suspicious in light of the timing and surrounding rumors.
The leaker made no mention of pricing, but many Redditors speculated that the PS5 version of KCD could be free to those who already own the PS4 edition. That’s what Rockstar did when it announced the original Red Dead Redemption was getting a current-gen upgrade, although there were some technical issues in the rollout of the free update. That would also make sense if the new version is just a modernized port and not a full remaster. However, without any official word from Warhorse, it’s impossible to say anything beyond the shadow of a doubt.
Given Warhorse’s tease earlier in December and bertik11 having correctly leaked Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s delay in the past, it seems like the PS5 upgrade is likely. If things do play out the way it looks like they will, it could be a nice way to celebrate the franchise now that KCD2 has caught the attention of a larger fanbase. A native PS5 version could also help stretch out the current console generation amid fears that the RAM shortage could delay the PS6 and next-gen Xbox. Whatever the case is, fans likely won’t need to wait long to find out more.
