PS5 Exclusive Dinosaur Game Code Violet Has Officially Gone Gold

Dino Crisis fans have long-awaited another game in the survival horror franchise, and while their wishes have not yet been answered by that particular series, the upcoming Code Violet looks to satiate audience thirst for prehistoric terrors and action-packed combat. Originally slated to launch in November, Code Violet has now locked in a January 2026 release date, exclusively for PlayStation 5, and updates to the planned Deluxe Edition of the game are good news for all players who are looking forward to this new sci-fi horror adventure.

The first trailer for Code Violet teased a blend of gun-toting action sequences with terrifying dinosaur chase sequences, perfectly blending the iconic horrors of both Dino Crisis and Jurassic Park. And yet Code Violet sets itself apart from its spiritual predecessors with a twisted new tale of cataclysmic events and biological testing. Set in the 25th century, Code Violet follows protagonist Violet Sinclair, a young woman who awakens in the Aion Bioengineering Complex which has become overrun by prehistoric monsters. Violet must battle against the ferocious dinosaurs while learning the truth behind the horrific experiments and plans of Aion. The unique premise quickly sparked the attention of Dino Crisis and sci-fi horror fans, and the latest update from the developer finally confirms when players can experience the chaos of Code Violet.

Upcoming Survival Horror Game is Like Old-School Resident Evil

Fans of old-school survival horror games like Resident Evil may want to take a look at this upcoming title that offers classic horror gameplay.

Code Violet Release Date and Deluxe Edition Update

Developer TeamKill Media announced that Code Violet has finally gone gold and will release on January 10, 2026. Along with the new launch date, TeamKill Media also revealed that plans for a separate Standard and Deluxe Edition had to be scrapped to avoid another delay, but this is actually good news for fans. Anyone who purchased a Deluxe Edition of Code Violet will receive a full refund from Sony via the PlayStation Store. Fans can then re-purchase the game at its original Standard Edition price. The added bonus is that all exclusive items planned for the Deluxe Edition will now be included in the Standard Edition, meaning all players who purchase Code Violet will receive the Tommy Gun weapon and special outfits for Violet without having to pay a deluxe cost.

Similar to classic survival horror games, Code Violet requires players to manage a limited inventory, forcing Violet to choose which weapons, health items, and puzzle-solving tools to take with her. A modern over-the-shoulder third-person camera angle keeps players right in the middle of the action during both melee combat encounters and tactical long-range attacks against the hungry dinosaurs hunting Violet across the Aion Complex. Code Violet takes advantage of the PS5 hardware, offering ray-traced visuals, 3D audio, and even haptic feedback via the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller, making for a terrifyingly immersive sci-fi dinosaur survival experience.

Rumors of Dino Crisis potentially making a comeback have yet to be supported by any official announcements by Capcom, so Code Violet may be just what fans are looking for while they wait for any potential revivals of the classic Dino Crisis series. Horror gaming fans certainly have no shortage of exciting upcoming launches to look forward to, with Resident Evil Requiem and the Silent Hill remake among the most anticipated AAA titles. While Dino Crisis seemingly won’t be following in its peers’ footsteps anytime soon, the upcoming Jurassic Park horror game Jurassic Park Survival offers a first-person survival horror experience that will take players back to the dino terrors of the 1990s.

Despite arguably fierce competition in the survival horror scene, Code Violet‘s intriguing story of futuristic bioengineering blended with some of the oldest predatory hunters on the planet looks to make for a memorable new entry in the genre. It draws inspiration from those that came before it while presenting its own take on what makes sci-fi so terrifying, and expectations are understandably high. Code Violet releases exclusively for PlayStation 5 on January 10, and fans can follow along for more news on upcoming horror games coming in 2026 and beyond.
