Unfortunately for some Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls fans, Sony’s upcoming FlexStrike Fight Stick has been indefinitely delayed after it was originally scheduled to launch on the same day. One of Sony’s most anticipated titles, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, is less than a month away, with new reveals and details of Arc System Works’ fighter only serving to further excite fans.
Following recent character announcements, including Ghost Rider’s Samurai Outriders squad for Marvel Tokon, fans have been eager to learn more ahead of the game’s launch. The full roster is now revealed, but Arc System Works has also announced downloadable content set to launch sometime after the game’s out. So far, the post-launch characters have yet to be revealed, with fans hoping for at least a tease in the next few weeks alongside a potential launch trailer. Looking to capitalize on the excitement, Sony also planned to launch a unique peripheral for use with Marvel Tokon, as well as other fighting games, though things have suddenly taken a turn.
Sony’s FlexStrike Fight Stick Indefinitely Delayed
Sony’s FlexStrike Fight Stick was originally announced back in June 2025 during a State of Play under the name Project Defiant. A year later, Sony provided new details for FlexStrike while confirming its price and preorder date. Originally planned for launch on August 6, the same day as Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, the FlexStrike features a rechargeable battery that is capable of utilizing wired and wireless connection through PlayStation Link. Not only that, it comes with 3 different restrictor gates that can be swapped without tools, built-in storage, and comes with a sling carry case.

The launch date of the FlexStrike was clearly intentional, though those plans have now changed. In a new update to the original pre-order blog post, Sony has confirmed that the fight stick has been “indefinitely delayed” due to unexpected production delays. Unfortunately, Sony doesn’t go into any more detail on what’s going on, only that the company continues to ensure that it is delivering the best possible experience to players by taking the extra time to add finishing touches to the product. As of right now, there is no new launch date for the fight stick, so Marvel Tokon fans who were planning on getting both on August 6 will now have to make alternate plans.
The FlexStrike delay isn’t the only roadblock some fans may now be facing. While neither Sony nor Arc System Works has officially mentioned anything, fans discovered a PSN requirement for Marvel Tokon, including those on the PC version. Essentially, this requirement means that 132 countries are effectively blocked from accessing the game, with users from these regions also seeing an error message when attempting to access the game’s store page. This incident is similar to what happened with Helldivers 2 on PC, a situation which Sony eventually changed and something Marvel Tokon fans are hoping to see as well.

On a more positive note, it appears that Marvel Tokon will be a feature-rich game. In addition to online play, Arc System Works recently revealed new gameplay for Marvel Tokon‘s Episode Mode, a single-player story experience that mixes comic-style cutscenes with traditional gameplay. The new footage also teased fights against The Promoter and The Champion, revealing their in-game character models and some of their moves as well.
