Rainbow Six Siege Reveals Year 11 Roadmap

Ubisoft is preparing to launch the newest season for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege called Operation Silent Hunt and after recent hints and teases to the community, the iconic Solid Snake is officially joining the roster. 2025 saw the next evolution of Rainbow Six Siege as Ubisoft launched its biggest update for the popular online shooter called Siege X, breathing new life into the 10-year-old title and helping its player population soar.

However, despite the game’s continued resurgence, the end of 2025 and into the beginning stages of 2026 has been tumultuous at best. Prior to the new year, Rainbow Six Siege suffered a massive hacking incident that forced Ubisoft to temporarily shut down the game’s servers. Hackers flooded the in-game message system, handed out billions in R6 Credits, developer-only skins suddenly becoming available, and other odd behaviors. Worse yet, the game suffered another hacking incident just a week later, with some players receiving bans as well. Thankfully, Ubisoft was able to fix the situation and since then, has managed to get the game back on track with teases for what’s next.

While reflecting on the 10th anniversary of Rainbow Six Siege, Game Rant discusses a possible return to single-player with the Ubisoft devs.

Late in January, Ubisoft teased the arrival of Solid Snake in Rainbow Six Siege, though at the time, details were very scarce and planned to reveal more information on February 15. As promised, Ubisoft revealed Operation Silent Hunt, which is launching on March 3 and features plenty of Metal Gear Solid references and content for players to enjoy.

First off, Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series arrives as an attacking operator, once again voiced by the original voice actor, David Hayter. Snake comes armed with his Soliton Radar MKIII gadget and his On-Site Procurement ability. His gadget is a handheld device that lets Snake see the floorplan of his immediate surroundings and any enemies on his current floor. The device also has three lights indicating certain threats in the area, with Green meaning it’s all clear, Yellow highlighting default cameras being used by an enemy, while Red means there are 1 or more enemies active in the area. Using precision mode on the device, the radar displays a position icon and vision cone of any enemies picked up, but keep in mind this has limited charges and a cooldown timer, so use it wisely.

For this unique ability, Snake’s On-Site Procurement allows him to pick up utility pouches from fallen enemies that refill his secondary gadgets supply during the match. Where things get a bit interesting is that, unlike other Operators, Snake is able to have up to five different secondary gadgets at one time. So, using his ability to scavenge, Snake is able to stockpile items in any of his open gadget slots, allowing him to be adaptable to different situations.

New weapons are also on the way, including Snake’s Tacit .45 secondary pistol. Alternatively, Solid Snake’s primary weapons could be the PMR90A2 designated marksman rifle or the F2 assault rifle. Better yet, the F2 can now utilize grip attachments.

Ubisoft is also teasing a special Metal Gear themed mode, which is currently being referred to as the [REDACTED] event. For many stealth fans, this mode could be a dream come true as it pairs Solid Snake with Ubisoft’s own Sam Fisher from the Splinter Cell series, also known as Zero in Rainbow Six Siege. The mode features a modified version of the Nighthaven Labs map, which will feature plenty of Metal Gear references. As expected, the event will have its own Collection series, styling the Rainbow Six operators as iconic characters from the Metal Gear series like Gray Fox and Meryl.

The Silent Hunt roadmap provides a few additional details, including new Black Ice weapon skins, a 1v1 Arcade mode, as well as modernized versions of classic Siege maps like Coastline, Oregon, and Villa. Rainbow Six Siege‘s 6v6 Dual Front mode is also being retired after Silent Hunt ends, and the Ubisoft team will be issuing out a major Operator Balancing update as well. Changes include Skopos changing to a 3-speed operator, Ela’s Grzmot mines cause a longer concussion effect, Amaru’s Garra Hook is getting 1 additional charge, Shield operators won’t be able to smash through a full health barricade anymore, and much more.
