Resident Evil Fan Shows Off Stunning Recreation of Spencer Mansion in The Sims

Following the critical and commercial success of Resident Evil Requiem, many longtime fans of the iconic survival horror franchise have been returning to older entries in the series to relive some of the best moments and revisit other memorable locations. One Resident Evil player went the extra mile and loaded up The Sims 4 to fully recreate the notorious Spencer Mansion. While the infamous manor was first introduced in the original 1996 Resident Evil, the Sims 4 fan instead chose to take inspiration from the 2002 remake, giving fellow players a teaser of what the Spencer Mansion would look like with more modern video game graphics.

Audiences have been feasting on survival horror content from Capcom, driven largely by the Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 remakes, along with Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil Requiem. Many still remember when Resident Evil made its debut on the PlayStation before getting the first official Capcom Resi remake in 2002 for the GameCube. This version would later be ported to the Nintendo Wii in 2008, while a high-definition remaster launched for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One in 2015. The game would finally make its way to the Nintendo Switch in 2019, though audiences have lamented the lack of a newer RE Engine remake of the legendary game. Despite being a far cry from the official remakes, a Spencer Mansion recreation in The Sims 4 has given players an idea of what a fresher release of the original Resident Evil could offer.

Reddit user stagla shared a photo gallery of their jaw-dropping recreation of the Spencer Mansion from the 2002 Resident Evil remake in The Sims 4. The showcase begins with a full look at the imposing entrance hall, complete with dark wooden pillars, pristine tiles, and an impressive marble staircase. A view of the upper level of this main foyer includes highly-detailed railings and posts, perfectly paired with blood-red carpeting and aged lighting fixtures. The ornate architectural design of the Spencer Mansion from Resident Evil is on full display in the Sims 4 reproduction of the dining room, the East stairwell, and the Exhibition Room, while memories of key moments from the game are instantly conjured by the Sim‘s version of the Greenhouse, the Mirror Corridor, the Death Mask Crypt, and a certain researcher’s room where the “Itchy, Tasty” note can be found.

One challenge faced by stagla when attempting to build the Spencer Mansion in The Sims 4 was the life-sim game’s too clean look, meaning their version of the estate ended up looking much more pristine than the nightmarish mansion in Resident Evil. Stagla had previously remade the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center in The Sims 4, which benefited from the more sterile appearance of The Sims. Both Resi and Sims fans offered their support in spite of any perceived shortcomings, with many keeping their fingers crossed that Capcom will also take an interest in bringing the Spencer Mansion back from the dead after Resident Evil Requiem.

Fans may have their wishes granted sooner than expected, as new rumors of a Resident Evil remake have been doing the rounds lately. Other alleged leaks have suggested that Code: Veronica will be receiving priority treatment, not to mention that Capcom has already officially confirmed that the Resi team is busy making DLC for Resident Evil Requiem. It may be some time before audiences are able to see a more modern version of the original Resident Evil, so it should come as no surprise that the slightest look at a potential new version of RE, even in the form of The Sims 4 fan creations, are quickly catching players’ eyes.
